I was very hesitant to mention any software names, but we all know what is available for the same price. I wish Caligari all the best, and I did not take any offense towards your post. |

Hi all!
Thanks for all the submissions and suggestions! We know this was a very short deadline, but we just wanted to open it to the community in case anyone had some new stuff to throw into the mix that hadn't shown in the galleries etc.
We won't post the ad for now, we'll wait until it's in print, but just to save on the wondering who had their image selected, we went with a scene from Marcel Barthel, one of the real-time ones - Marcel sent us along the scene and we took some real-time grabs from that.
For those wondering about real-time resolution, dual monitors allow for large screen grabs :) We chose to use something real-time as that is one of the unique features of trueSpace, and I still think many people out there don't realise just how good a real-time render can look.
We'll share the ad online once its out in print so everyone can take a look. Again, thanks to everyone who took part, we appreciate the time and effort you all put into it, especially with such short notice.
For our information, would this be something the community would like to see again, similar invites to submit work for this sort of thing? Deadlines are of course sometimes very tight depending on how things have gone, but if people thought this was fun to take part in, and would like to see similar things in future, then let us know. We know you guys are the ones that take the software and make the images, worlds and animations that actually look good, something we don't usually have time to do here ourselves with the focus on developing and refining the tools themselves, so it makes sense to us to turn to the community now and then and ask for your artwork - but your feedback is welcome on the idea.
Thanks!

Good Artist, Good Choice. Can't wait to see the Ad. If you select their Art they should be rewarded somehow. Free update or something. I think how you guys asked for Artwork was cool but the lead time should be greater if possible. |

Definatly! I think there should be more office competitions offering prizes, it widens the community and would draw people in, if people knew there was lots of competitons to join then I think more people would buy into the software as it drives you to better yourself.
I think there should be more official support of the Speed Modelling Challanges, and that some kind of prize could be provided, or just some mention on the Caligari homepage |

We will let you know soon about it.
As for the ad we will probably launch it her at TS Forum at the same time as CGW Siggraph issue will come out. Tom and I think it is nice:) |

You can certainly mark me down as keen! TrueSpacing is very much a hobby for me, I'm not looking to make a name for myself but I would be happy to support my favourite software company and to give back a little after all the generosity and support Caligari have shown me over the last 4 or 5 years.
So you went with one of Marcels pics? I'm not surprised, he does outstanding work. |
