Sounds like good advice Rich :)

My D-40 does RAWs, I usually shoot low compression JPGs to save space on my 2GB mem card..... lol -- guess for serious work I probably should actually use RAW. The new camera's made me pretty lazy since images are usually the way I'm like 'em right out of the camera. Sometimes I'll stretch the histogram and gamma correct a bit if I under exposed the shot. But that and general retouching is pretty much it. ;)

I've got a tripod around here somewhere and my camera does bracketed shots, so I should definitely try to shoot a few of my own HDRs. I want to matte paint a few also for freaky kind of backgrounds like plasma, fire, fog, space, mushroom worlds, etc..lol

If I come up with something good, I'll have to post it here for you guys. :)

Never use the term "I only have a 2gig memory card" again :D These things are so cheap compared to what they were when I started using DSLRs... I just bought 2 8gig cards about 6 weeks ago. Each of those can hold 900+ raw pictures. The 2gig version go for the mid 20's.

The Nikon D40 is a nice camera. I don't think there is a bad camera in any of the current DSLR cameras being offered by any of the manufacturers.

You will find that the better you get at setting up HDR's and the more successful you are with using them in TS you will want to spend the time and effort to create good ones in the first place. I know that you have a very extensive knowledge of 3D, programming and even that evil place "LE". Photography will just be another tool after you get more comfortable with using it will 3D.

Good Luck! Love to see what you do.
