As an educator, collaboration is something I wish to explore but in the age group I teach, only exceptional students are proficient in tS (see Stoker, Hemulin and a few others who do not visit here)....so I am looking at other ways of using tS7.5 in my teaching. |

I would like to register a vote for animated texture support via VRay in TrueSpace 7.5. |

I suspect the best response is to follow the advice of Buddha and seek the middle way - keep on pushing the collaboration but also balance that with the 'solo artist' aspects of this great software. There will always be a solitary aspect of a true creative process. But we also strive to be recognized for our achievements. When I come up with sometimes with some "creative" concept I often present it to my wife first. She patiently listens to my explanations, often does not say much but in the end I realize that it is this process of explanation which makes the idea truly real to myself. I suspect that is what drives scripters Tuesday meetings as well. |

Roman,
This is one aspect that drives our meetings. Another is to foster learning and growth within the scripting community. There are folks of all levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced that come, and our goal is to get these folks together to share our knowledge so we can all learn. My accomplishment from last night was actually showing Dele something he did NOT know! So if at least one person learned something new, it was all worth it to me.
Thanks for providing a shared space where we can do this.
But what I would request regarding the shared spaces, and trueplay 2.0, is improved voice data management. Last night only a couple people used headphones (I suspect due to the blankout periods: no sound) so I dropped the microphone and started typing like a madman. :)
Thanks,
Froo / Jason |

It's been a month since Roman said "The work should take only a few months". Any body seen any screens of the morphing tools for facial animation? Just for the record, for me I would rather see the rest of the character animation tools added before any new export options. I bought this because the focus of the upgrade was character animation. I purchased early and found out after the 30 day return had run out nothing new for lipsync was added. I was also just infomed resently I'm not allowed to sell my copy either ( lesson learned, read the fine print ). So here I go again waiting for an upgrade. I have to say 7.5 is a gaint step forward for TS. I hope 7.6 can finish the rest of the character animation set. |

Well we did get a tidbit about possible new/improved PE tools coming for 7.6 from Roman in this thread:

Just watched the 2 videos posted in Roman's blog. Nice!
I like the church video; looks like this is a sanctuary in an embattled world. I felt like there was something dark, raging outside the walls. Note that we could not see beyond those walls; only the sanctuary within.
Nice job Marcel!

I too find it very impressive. This is pro-level work to rival scenes in professional video game titles. I'm really surprised that Marcel hasn't been snapped up by one of the big name studios yet... ;)
TS's realtime tools are VERY impressive. |

Very impressive videos, the leaf one was amazing.
I'm also excited about the changes in 7.6 as quoted by Roman.
"truespace7.6 will introduce vertex animation, morphing tools for facial animation, blendable morph targets as well as new workspace modeling tools and faster speed in modeling. We also aim for more stable and faster workflows with optimized kernel, 2D window manager, widgets, etc. Script editor will expose better access to trueSpace animation and physics simulation functions, thus making it easy to use trueSpace7.6 for commercial quality truePlace2.0 interactive environments. There will be other improvements but I would rather under promise and over deliver unlike some previous posting I made in the past."
Can't wait, but I guess I have to. :) |

Yes, very nice (though I'd like to know just how high end the hardware is to make it look that good and smooth!)
What's got me most excited though is the workflow issues (and UI useability tidying). Roman say's they're not super glorious but I disagree - they will make the program a joy to use again, returning the glamour, as it were.
If some of the irritating bugs get squished along the way I'm gonna be one happy little witch! |

I was thinking the same - Roman, what was the hardware used to render this in real-time?? |

I don't think Parva has anything overly extreme. Probably an 8 series nVidia card though. ;) |

The art is nice, but the ONLY thing I really found interesting is gameSpace2....and that is mostly out of curiosity... |

I want to use TS again without having to fight it every inch of the way.

what was the hardware used to render this in real-time??
recorded on a quad core machine (q6600) and a geforce 8800gt, but only the gpu is important and the real bottleneck.
3 problems:
- like Roman said the workspace directx engine isn't optimized for speed yet.
- to record animation I used Camtasia, this needs a lot of power
- scripted animations are heavy limited to few objects
I tested it on my laptop with pentium m 1,7 ghz and a ati 600.
Well, :D as long as you don't activate postprocess effects and reduce the trees to 1, it is possible to walk in without jerky movements.
Nevermind, it's great to see that a CG program can do that kind of realtime stuff now.
thanks again all for the comments. |

Very impressed by those images of realtime. Marcel was really turning heads when I was on the Beta team with his realtime experiments but he seems to have taken them to a whole new level recently.
Amazing work.:D |

Absolutely beautiful work, Marcel. Reminds me very much of some ancient elven ruins from Lord of the Rings or The Silmarillion. I love the blending of the texturing with the geometry on the wall growths. And I couldn't finish without mentioning the lighting. Simply amazing, you're an inspiration.
My hiatus (sp?) is nearly over (I say hiatus, 'cos it sounds better than "college gives you LOTS of homework"). So expect stuff from me soon also! :D |

recorded on a quad core machine (q6600) and a geforce 8800gt, but only the gpu is important and the real bottleneck. You can buy 8800GTS for $279 and as Marcel says CPU is not important for real time navigation. That is not such a high end system. |

LOL - Needing a dedicated place to worship is like needing a dedicated place to breathe - regardless of who, what or how you worship - IMO of course |

Hi folks.
Roman mentioned that they would setup the Haunted House to go live.
It is Live Now in the scriptorium if you want to go there.
All setup and ready to go!
Just turn on your headsets/speakers! MUWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Happy Halloween!
