"Specifically we will be working with the Virtual Earth team which is in the process of building out an immersive 3D Web experience"

A whole comunity of 3d artist pushed to a 3d web experience?

This is crazy.. We are not cows..

He's entitled to make money from his assets, as is anyone else.

Yoo will get no argument from me there, which is why I mentioned the family, food and roof stuff ;)

It is still early days and no news updates makes a breeding ground for speculation both good and bad.

But the questions still need to be answered re the future course of Truespace, the main one being is it worthwhile for a non web3D developer to continue supporting TS in the future or is it going to be a better move to cut our losses and move on.

As I said I still use TS 6.6 after upgrading to TS7 and Vray becuase the tools are still not available in the TS7 side.

Do I continue to upgrade or move on?

I am still on the fence until I have more information and bear no one at Caligari any ill feelings, it's just business after all.

Cheers

I allways thought Rosetta were a code name for XP beta or even Vista, sure I've seen it some were.

Now funny thing only search on goole shows up some code by Apple ;)

Now that's a turn...

Yeah I know guys, just needed a break from all speculations, I'm sure we'll hear more when things are calming down, remember they probably do these business on the fly as well just like real time rendering...

So might take awhile until they got something they can say, not to long though... hang in there

Also don't forget that Romans mantra has allways been 3d and web thingie, I never understood exactly what this meant...

SeYa/Ambrose...

Whoa!!! What is going on here? It seems like most of the windows users here have gone into a panic! And already started making plans to go somewhere else?
Take a step back here.
Take a deep breath.
Count to 10
Think of something soft and pleasant.
Now… Think of the late great Douglas Adams
Then pick up your copy of “Hitchhikers’ guide to the Galaxy”
Turn it over
“Don’t Panic”
You never know what will happen when someone is bought out.
Yes, there will be changes. Yes, there will be input from someone else.
But, honestly! If I were Roman, I would be scared to open my e-mail for fear that someone planted a bomb in my PC.
Let’s all calm down and see what happens. Roman says that he didn’t have to make compromises, and for now, he probably doesn’t. This means that Truespace 8 will come and will be a better product than 7.5
How do we know that Truespace 10 won’t be a better product?
We don’t until it comes out.
Let’s take a wait-and-see attitude here and keep going on with what we were doing.
IF things do not work out for our little community we can always go elsewhere.
But IF things work out well, then the community will grow by leaps and bounds and those of us here now will be the “Future Founders” of something.
Where is Nez’s WIP going?
How about Steinie? Where is that project going?
Will TigreStripe be able to map his spaceship?
How about theuns? Will we get that MAV finished? How about that Cliff Hanger colony?
How about B_Soldier’s project? Looking good and better all the time.
Fahembree wants some help with his car does he not?
3dfrog needs a bit of encouragement to get that animation done.
WWOTW might have a few more tweeks to her “Assassin or Saviour”

NOTE: I purposefully waited a suitable period before writing this because I too felt some panic. But I think it’s time to calm down. Change is always looked at suspiciously. And it is not always bad. Lets give Roman and company a chance to breath here.

Garion and Ambrose havw the right Idea. Wait and see.

I think you'll find this isn't panicking, just the understandable concerns of users who have waited months for some news about fixing TS, only to be told not to worry because Caligari's been sold to the Empire and soon we'll all be in web3d heaven.

I've waited extremely patiently for news about vray fixes and upgrades.

I think dismissing the community as panic merchants completely misses the point. It's poor PR, at best, there's really no excuses.

Damn it Roman, just as i start to get used to the idea of having to learn a new 3d package from scratch you pull this out the hat, realtime cloth-sim? Thats just too cool.
I've got to admit i thought the MS buyout made TS's future look bleak but that resotres my faith a lot. You've got my attention for another few months now!

Edit: any chance we can get Hair similar to the Sasquatch plugin for Lightwave? I know with a bit of creativity the steamers in the vid could be made to look like long hair blowing in the wind but hair-sim of Sasquatch type quailty would deffinatly start to turn heads

Thats some pretty nice streams...

7.6 looks great. With a few tweaks and 2 - 3 new tools

the hair system could be made to be a jewel too !

If one would use the clothmotion to build up some

alphaclipped hair ...we could have dynamic hair !

The cloth simulation will be quite useful.

I've actually seen boolean objects being moved around in an ambient occlusion environment in another program I have. If the objects can be liquefied to some extent, I can see many uses.

Yeah well, we'll see. Features.....whatever, booleans=fantastic, cloth=fantastic....what about the still unresolved IK tools??? edge modeling tools, FBX, .obj and the rest of the "meat and potatoes" of the program???
Disgruntled much?, 'Guess so. Love tS, but "wait and see" is my current standing.....BTW Caligari team, you guys are doing a great job, but you are focusing on a lot of the wrong things. IMHO.

nearly forgot...morphing=on target(excellent, said it would be there and it is...).
