After Primitiveitch, VirtualCaledonia, Sisyphus, Blackknight prods, and many others (half of Moonman's tS tsx links are broken) : Chikara Kojima's trueSpace extensions pages are now down.

For those who never knew it, it was the tsX candy shop of tS4, 5 and 6 communities.
Plenty of very usefull plugins there, at very cheap prices or free. Most important : some of them were even essential. Just like some of PrimitiveItch's shop tools, it turned trueSpace -the amateurish 3D edition program- into trueSpace - the professional product-.
Today, we loose a tSX download place but also all the manuals/tutorials to use the extensions.

A page of history is turning.

However, I am sorry that hundreds of tsX are now unavailable for download :
- New tS6.6 and 7.51 users are therefore passing by all its power.
- If you lost some of your favorite tSX after HD crash or broken CDs, there is no place to grab them back.
- If you forgot how to use an old plugin that may help in a particular case, there is no longer help files or tutorials on the web...

So, I am thinking of setting up a page on my website, to host abandoned plugins and an how-to/description for each.
This is a big work, and I have a very little time, so first, I would like to know if :
1- you find it is usefull
2- some people would like to help in the making of that page (screenshots of tsX icons, of options panels, short tutorials, etc...)

What do you think ?

Brilliant idea, like you say new users are short of resources that we used to have.

Not sure i could help with tutorials but if you need screenshots of panels of any plugins i'm using i'd be glad to submit them.

edit: I cant believe gk game factory has gone though! i did my very first head model with plugins from that site!

Excellent idea Emmanuel, and very generous of you to offer this service and webspace.

If you compile a numbered reference list here of specific abandoned plugins I'm sure you would get many responses from folks here willing to help with certain ones they have, I know I have about 70 myself, for instance.

I'm extremely sorry to here Chikara's site is down, I hope it's just temporary because he has the very best plugins available for trueSpace that I know of and I've downloaded many there and purchased a few as well.

The death of Cloth Motion there, for instance, will be a huge loss to the TS6.6 (and prior) users, and I couldn't live without the Polytools plugin I got from him even with TS7.51.

A sad day, but your generosity has made the news easier to take.

Thanks.

Well no question I would find that usefull !

But what I would find even more usefull is a collection of the new

scripts and plugs fo 7.xx and plus. Those are all someplaces and not realy

in a collection. There are some fantastic ones like clintonmans

Maya style navigation .... morph plugs etc.

Ts 7.xx should be a growing community !

Thats a good point rayman, we should look to the future as well as the past, i'm redesigning my website now, i may be able to set aside some space for links to scripts and such, can't promise much right now though.

A great idea! I would definitely find it useful, especially as I'm a comparatively infrequent modeller and can therefore go quite a long time without using a particular plug-in and forget how to use it. Also, my plug-in collection is (was?) still growing and I was thinking of getting more, so it would be useful to have access to those that have been discontinued.

I'm more than happy to try to help with material for the archive - screen shots, explanations etc where possible. As I said, my collection isn't massive but there are a number that I use regularly in TS5, and I could probably check my old PC at home to see which I used on TS4.3 too.

Good luck - hope this takes off!

It's run by Xmanflash. I never could figure out why everyone doesn't use it to store their scripts. They would all be in one place. I know he would update it for plugin docs etc. I believe he was updating the site too.

I agree, I even check back there once a month or so, but it is never updated...it's a shame, and it's all of our fault.

Crap!

I was just going to order the full version of Poly-Tools !!!

Crap!

The site was up a week or so ago, so maybe just temporary.

Regardless do what you can, many a fine plug-in out there.

Cloth-Motion alone is worth all the effort.

Even is people still would have to pay for it.

Crap!

:D

I have tried to contact Chikara at his latest known email adress, with no success at this time.

However, here is the archive page (http://emmanuel.asset.free.fr/tsxarchive/index.htm). I just uploaded 9 plugins. I will add more as time permits.

Hi Emmanuel,

Back when Chikara's site was running fine I had purchased some of his stuff, Polytools, Displacement Mapper, etc. and had a hard time figuring out at that time how to activate them after purchase. I finally figured out after several days that all you do is right-click all his icons in order to locate the one which is designed to provide a dialog entry box for the serial number.

The reason I mentioned all of that here is that during those "several days" I had sent numerous (mellow) e-mails to Chikara asking how to do this and received replies which made it clear to me he doesn't read English in the least.

Consequently, any efforts on our part now to determine if Chikara will re-open his site may similarly meet with unintelligable answers at best, and more likely will result in no reply at all even if Chikara DOES intend to set up a new site and continue.

You may have to wait a few months on Chikara's stuff accordingly.

The registration dialogue for Polytools is in the Magnet plugin.

Polytools is a fantastic set of tools. The one I use the most is Knife : a polygons knife that makes miracles.

I should add it to the archive page...

Emmanuel,

thanks for starting this thread and sharing your excellent idea with us. I'm sad that Chikara closed his website because it was the very best place for free trueSpace plugins. Yesterday I postet this news in the German trueSpace forum (http://www.3dspace.de/), too.

Over the last months I searched the whole Internet for the rests of TS plugins. After Primitve Itch and CK Game Factory there are only a few sites present you can download helpful TSXs. Sometimes you can download them from mirrored sites by Archive.org.

I've saved my findings on CD. It contains nearly 250 plugins from 64 different websites. Ask me if I can help you with screenshots, icons or plugins themselve.

would you be able to put the primative itch plugins on? I know we can still get them from their site but for how long?

Also, if you can get permission to put it on i've got a copy of UlV Cow. That was for sale though so it may cause problems.

Pretty certain Urban is working here (http://www.sekvenca.si/en/company/people/), perhaps email that address and see if you can contact him and ask permission?

Some people are seeing this case thus:

The last one that to leave, erases the light!

I think that the TrueSpace is not a pierced boat that we must abandon! The subject is very serious. Who folloies to some time this situation perceives that the happy owners of TrueSpace are being orphans of plugins. It imagines how many people who possess older versions of the program (I have the 6.6 the little time) are sad at this moment. E who has will to buy the program and sees this…

I would like to see a revision in its links here in the site also…

Long life to the TrueSpace!

Someone on my french forum is looking for Infinity2.

I think it has been released as freeware on PrimitiveIcht when GalloSoft ceased plugins development.

I only have a very old archive of that plugin on my disks, but it was a demo version.

Do you think Infinity2 freeware edition is still hosted somewhere ?
