In the Laboratory :o
Sweet.:D
I've been discovering stuff all over truePlaces as well lately. Maybe someday I'll know what they all do too! Hahahaha!
Thanks again trueBlue,
And thank you too Délé!

Is this documented somewhere in the DG? I can't seem to find it.
Thanks,
Froo
Maybe these would help:
RsTool.GetAvatarsEnumerator()
AvatarsMatrix = Avatars.GetAvatarMatrix()
 |

I just found them both in the same place, they are in the Shared Space Labs within the "Central Doors Switcher" object. (Maybe elsewhere too, lots of unfamiliar stuff there of course)
I'll send the whole script to you in PM now.
Looks like just the ticket... we'll soon see.;)

Nice, thanks trueBlue! :) I'll play around with those and see if I can get it to work. Where did you find those?
Thanks Délé,
If there's any way I could help you with any related experimentation in shared space just drop me a PM on it and I'd be happy to help you with this or any similar Scripting Development efforts anytime, just say the word and it's done.:)
Frootee and I have been similarly testing other "unknowns" in realtime shared space, so we're both already experienced with the "Guinea Pig Assistant" Development Scenario there!:D
Sure is a bummer designing a nice boat that sinks when launched, and God knows I've launched my share of those, but there's always a way if determination outweighs deterrence, and in this specific case I can assure you it most definitely does.;)

It's no prob. I like doing this stuff and if we can figure out some things, we should be able to make some pretty wild truePlay scenes. :)
I just uploaded 8 new triggers in the Garage. They all are similar but trigger a little different from each other. These can be used to make your "magic doors" fade in and out as well as any other procedural animation you can create. I also uploaded a scene that has some simple examples of stuff that can be done with them.

This is GREAT work here Délé, thank you!!!
I already downloaded it all and I'm already digging in!:D
These will be really nice to use for all kinds of things as you said, I can see lots of ways to use them already and these will be very helpful for the folks entering the new immersive scenes competition for sure!
These upcoming Tuesday night Script Hookup meetings are going to be a blast with all these great developments and folks learning how to use them in the LE for the first time together, I have an idea they will soon be the most popular meetings of all when folks start seeing the amazing things we can all do now thanks to you and all the other great Scripting Developers here!
Thanks again... and again.... and....:)
Fantastic!!!:D
Man this ARE exciting days!!!

An excellent thread! Thought provoking and exciting. Pauls suggestion of transportation got me thinking - I'd like to see a magic carpet or some sort of flyable machine that would extend FPN into the air. Even something that approximated the famous Star Wars podrace sequence where there is a specified circuit where FPN physics are much faster and more responsive.
I've not thought these ideas through at all - I'm just thinking aloud really......
Excellent Ideas, and we HAVE thought them through.:D
Both of these specific ideas are under heavy consideration at this point and are both simply inevitable, there don't appear to be substantial obstacles in the way of their active development apart from manhours and volunteers. I too want to see both of these concepts converted to tools we can simply drag and drop and modify for our own purposes, and both are in fact very high on the priority list here already.;)
I love these ideas from you and from Paul....
Got more? BRING 'EM ON!!!!
Thanx,

UPDATE: Monday August 20th, 2007
Whew.... what a week it's been here!:)
Now that the major preliminary hurdles of Avatar control have indeed been utterly conquered here this week in relation to collision bypass, gravity bypass, avatar object control (picking up and placing items), avatar eyecam addressing, smooth relational object manipulation, and introduction of external items into the specific viewing area of an avatar.... many, many, more new innovations will be possible for all of us to utilize and to LEARN to utilize here TOGETHER.
With the advent of our new weekly "Script Hookup" meetings we will have extremely exciting developments to share every single week now accordingly.
The only real obstacles remaining to the development of these fantastic new capabilities simply boil down to time and manpower, nothing more. As more and more new developments begin to emerge in the form of viable tools for us all to employ here in our own interactive environments, however, our numbers most certainly WILL swell. More will be joining us weekly in the excitement and deep personal satisfaction of learning to develop these tools and new projects together in teams, and we will all grow because of it.
Interactive Scene Development via trueSpace7.51 is truly beginning right now, and already shows genuine promise of leading us together toward the creation of some of the internets most deeply immersive and excitingly interactive new multi-user environments.
This timing simply could not be better either, because very soon indeed, Caligari will be providing us all with even greater trueSpace and truePlay tools to enable our growth together in these same directions, as well as providing new and "affordable" privately rentable multi-user shared space settings to develop them in and share them with.
These new spaces will also enable us all to develop prototypes of business environments should we choose to, opening truly unprecedented realms of opportunity for trueSpace Artisans of all kinds to ascend together to the utter cutting edge of new virtual multi-user business paradigms.
To say that these are "great times," is truly an understatement accordingly.
As for me, I intend to finally learn how to use the Link Editor and Scripting powers of trueSpace7.51 and beyond to enable me to develop great immersive scenes and unprecedented interactive avatar activities like the ones I see in my mind's eye every day now.
I can tell you each sincerely, that this time is the most exciting time in my life accordingly, and I do hope you will similarly find it to be yours.

Hi folks,
The purpose of this thread, as outlined in post number 1 here, is to establish a single place where those of us who are not Scriptors can suggest any ideas we may have for interactive scenes and objects we'd each like to have in our own immersive scenes which would require Scripting or LE work which is beyond our current capabilities.
In only one week since the advent of this thread several of the suggestions offered within this thread have already been accomplished (these are each now updated in this thread with red letter notes) either as a direct or indirect result of the generosity and genuinely daunting efforts of several highly skilled people among us in the Caligari Community and within Team Caligari itself.
Needless to say, this thread was apparently a good idea for all of us.
With that in mind, please do take the time yourselves to offer any Scripting Suggestions for features or items which you yourselves would like to see considered for development in relation to Immersive and Interactive Scenes and Objects, and lets keep filling this thread together in the months ahead, making it a great source of "food for thought" for the great Developers here among us.
Thanks.

Here's my next suggestion to consider...
026) "Scuba Gear" -
With the recent creation of the "WavePool2" by SteveBe here in the "Torus Knot" thread of the Gallery, we are now thanks to Steve and this truly great development, able to add quite realistic moving water and waves to our own interactive scenes, and even control the height, direction, and speed of these waves as well as the textures they employ.
All this makes for some genuine immersiveness (no pun intended) potential in our own interactive scenes intended for truePlay use whether online, offline, or right inside trueSpace7.51 Workspace itself via FPN.
So we have the water thanks to SteveBe, now we need the scuba gear thanks to you. It will need to auto-attached via script to an avatar's "face" like a mask and back like airtanks simultaneously, and be triggered by an avatar's head encountering any surface area defined in a scene as "water."
When the avatar's head is no longer in contact with that water the scuba gear would disengage from avatar lock and disappear.
More to follow soon.....

Here's my next suggestion to consider...
027) "The Witch's Bubble" -
You've all seen it in the Wizard of OZ where the good witch glides across the sky and descends gently to touchdown in the Munchkin Villiage inside a Bubble which vanishes upon landing.
This would be an extremely cool method of travel in Immersive Scenes, and if one were to keyframe a path perhaps and script an avatar lock on the bubble this now seems quite do-able to me.
More to follow soon.....

Here's my next suggestion to consider...
028) "Dogfight" -
2 World War One Biplanes following prescripted / keyframed paths designed to re-enact a "dogfight" between the planes.
If these planes while on the ground were hooked up to an avatar distance sensor and an avatar seat lock this would enable people to take turns in the re-enactment by simply approaching the planes in pairs and should now be do-able but would obviously be complex as far as the paths are concerned. Actual machine guns may also be possible very soon now.
More to follow soon.....

Here's my next suggestion to consider...
029) "The Great Link Hunt Whiteboard" -
In the truePlay Manual ( truePlay.pdf ) in Chapter 1, Paragraph 2, regarding truePlace linkbars, Roman stated something I always thought was quite extraordinary in regard to truePlaces, and feel is a feature of truePlaces worthy of exploit as a method to create some fun group activities together there, and potentially in our own online scenes as well.
Roman stated there in a quite intriguing manner that:
"A hyper-link may not necessarily be located on a Linkbar proper. It is possible to link any object within truePlace, to transport you some where (smile), so who knows what you may find."
Now I don't know about you folks, but I read that manual before I went to truePlaces the first time, and I have clicked every object in there at some point or other looking for the link he may have been referring to in that paragraph. In fact I still do sometimes.;)
All this calls to mind that we could intentionally hide links within a mult-user scene in this fashion, and then hunt against each other to find it first, which would be quite similar to the previously successful "egg hunt" conducted by Caligari in the Mushroom Village before.
To turn this concept into "The Great Link Hunt" which I envision here, there remains one thing still in this scenario which currently doesn't exist... a large script-driven whiteboard in a public place or entry point indicating four aspects to the hunt vital to drawing new hunters into the fray:
(1) The presense of a new hidden link
(2) The date it was introduced
(3) A clue as to the reward inherent in finding it
(4) The names (or team names) of those (if any) who have succeded in finding it to date.
In fact, the reward in each instance of "The Great Link Hunt" could be directly related to the number of days it remained unfound within a given scene area or throughout an entire collective scene area such as truePlaces, and it could of course grow as it remained unfound.
The effect this would have on the population of such a space or spaces is obvious, and it could be a great deal of fun for us all to participate in at any hour of the day either alone or in groups. It would also be a great method of developing natural team approaches to finding it together.
Obviously these hunts would have to be restricted to truePlay participants only, however, since trueSpace participants could readily find any link present in a shared space via their Link Editor.
More to follow soon.....
