here's one of mine. I seem to have forgotten how to adjust the walk and run speed... I couldn't find it in the LE! Go figure...

Here's a screengrab of that FPproperties spot in the LE

Thanks 3dv. I have another that is a different color. I tried changing the color using the paint tools but truespace got froze up. I think I saw something about this awhile back.

Is there a workaround? I also tried changing the color in the LE. No freezes, but no effect either.

Yeah, I've had my share of crashes with the paint tools myself.

The Material Editor (ME) that you can use (actually two different ones on each side of the bridge) is something I have lots of issues with, one of which is as you described here, it just doesn't do realtime updating at all unless the texture being applied is DX9-compatable. And I do know about the Default versus Live settings too, but that also doesn't update properly in the worskspace.

Since your intended destination for this scene is truePlay you will be better off using DX9 textures from the existing collection Caligari supplied in the Library. That way you can simply drag and drop a DX9 texture right from that library to any separate object within your scene, or if you paint the scene in 6.6 and bring it over the bridge, you can then drag DX9 textures right onto existing colors or textures within even a single object.

If you DO want to use the Workspace side Material Editor to apply modifications you've made to a DX9 texture from the stack, make sure you first use the syringe icon to designate that existing texture on your object to the ME. Then, make your modifications in the ME Stack Panel for that existing picked texture, THEN apply your mods to that texture by using the topmost icon in the ME window on the upper left.

If you need a realtime walkthrough we can do this together in shared space and chat through it while we're actually on the same page, so to speak.

(yet another great use for shared space:D )

OK, Here I have a couple surprises. Download the file and have a run around.

Hint: look for the green balls.

The other green ball is on the 2nd floor...

Nice one Froo! I was a little scared to get too close to the fighter guy - I thought he might take a swing at me! The green balls definitely pack a surprise too!

Hi Froo,

I have some really great news for everybody in this competition and it's related to your question quoted here and a great new discovery I made concerning it.

If anyone creates a scene in trueSpace7.5x for truePlay1.3 usage they have the ability to provide some very nice things to truePlay users of that scene which truePlay itself does not actually offer by default.

If you open your scenes in truePlay you will find that (unlike in trueSpace) you actually have no control whatsoever over your stepping height, gravity, walk speed, running speed, and many other things related directly to your actual First Person Navigation (FPN) experience within a truePlay scene.

BUT....

If the person saving that scene from within trueSpace 7.5x for truePlay usage first follows the following steps.... the truePlay user loading that scene will then be able to COMPLETELY control ALL their FPN abilities in that scene from a NEW TRUEPLAY FPN CONTROL WINDOW which will open with that scene when it is loaded in truePlay.

Inside TS7.5x :

Step 1 ) Load the scene and have it ready in all other ways (add and position an entry point camera, set lights and scale them very small and encapsulate them in 3d, etcetera). When you are ready to save it, continue to Step 2.

Step 2) Open your Link Editor (LE) so that you can see both your Link Editor and your Workspace simultaneously.

Step 3) Left Click your FPN icon in your Workspace. The moment you do this a new entry will instantly appear in your Link Editor named "FP properties"

Step 4) Left Click on the Titlebar of that new entry in your Link Editor right where it says "FP properties" and you will see a Red Black and Blue icon appear in the top left position of that entry.

Step 5 ) Depress that Icon with your left mouse button and a dropdown menu will appear.

Step 6) Be very careful here to select "Show automatically" from that dropdown menu.

Step 7) Save your scene to your desired location and format and use "File" "Load" to open it inside truePlay1.3... when you do so you will instantly see a new FPN window open in truePlay now... letting you overcome stair heights, jump to other planets, run like the wind, or whatever else your heart desires!:D

Enjoy!
