Hi Folks.
Right, I this is a problem that I've had with Poser for a long time, while I can use the LUV OBJ importer to get my exported Poser 5 men and women into TrueSpace looking as they should, the one thing that I've never been able to transfer over is the dynamic Poser 5 hair. Characters equipped with object based hair is fine, but if I apply Poser's dynamic hair to the character and take them into TrueSpace (5, 6 and 7.5), the characters load fine, skin colour, eye colour, etc., but the hair is all skin colour.
I've tried exporting my Poser characters in a number of formats, DXF, 3DS, LWO, OBJ, but none of them bring in the hair and the OBJ files work best (minus the hair). I'd much rather do all my modelling, layout and rendering in TrueSpace. Poser does fantastic figures, but it's interface is awkward to work with (and I've been working with it for years now), it's texture applying tools can produce some truly baffling results at times (recent work had a texture that wouldn't accept shadows, despite being set to do so!?!), and its rendering is very slow.
So does anyone know the trick to getting Poser 5 folks into TrueSpace complete with the dynamic hair I've applied to their bodies? |

Been a loooong time since I've had Poser on my system but I'm pretty certain that you can't. The dynamic hair isn't actualy geometry so you can't export/import it.
If you don't want to go with the tS hair tools best bet will be to import them bald and paint the hair in post process. |

Ahh... That's not what I wanted to hear. I have considered taking the characters into TrueSpace and adding the hair there, but then I'd lose all the controls for facial animation and the likes, that Poser has there ready to go.
Hey, if I remember correctly a year or so back, didn't Caligari and Poser come together, some sort of partnership. I remember the article which said better support between the two packages. Whatever happened to that???
Well, thanks, TWWotW. Looks like I'll just have to stay Poser side for working with my characters there. |

Its longer then a year it was around 2004 ... I read that in 3D World....
was a short article. Well Caligari said it and E-on did it.
You can import it into vue even with dynamic hair.
We asked for some of these things over and over again . Just put it into
the 69 thread again it should be on top of the to do list ! |

If the Poser hair is particle based then TS will need to implement the new Workspace side particle system in order to be able support Poser dynamic hair. |
