Ah good news! $250 is a much more reasonable price.
Definitely, now it falls back into my budget. :)
It'd be nice if they could find a less expensive dongle provider... Ah well.
Yeah, $100 just for the dongle itself does seem a bit much. I guess they're looking to make a little more money for the convenience too. |

Well hows this for customer service?
I discovered a bug in Headus UV layout. When using the native .uvl format to save partly mapped models, I discovered that UV layout would enlarge the models scale and position. Whereas if it was saved in .obj format everything was fine. I reported this to Phil at Headus and overnight (for me, they're in Australia) They tested the problem and have solved it. A new installer will be ready for download at the end of the week!
If only all 3D software producers would fix their bug's this quickly (hint Hint) :D :D :D
Just thought it was worth a mention. |

Me to jack. Just to follow this up.... I've just received an E-mail from Phil at Headus to let me know that a new installer is available for download with the bug I found, fixed. So get downloading fellow headus users.

Awww bummer. Looks like I can't run the patched version until I get my v2 license key generated. :( |

I didnt get an email to tell me that I had a new licence key. i just downloaded the new version and the key was on my details page. Unless of course Phil had set this up for me before he sent me the mail to let me know the bug was fixed  |

I'm glad my original concerns about customer service were unfounded.
It looks like they are actually very responsive.
Guess I had better go check my piggy bank. :) |

Got my new key, so I'm up and running with the patched version of 2.0 now. :)
Awesome job on the Troll btw, Madmouse. Pinning is on my "to learn next" list. I've got a character I need to unwrap later this week. ;)

That was weird. I got an email notice about the new release as a "pre-release" customer. I guess I got put on that list even though I was late.
I'll have to log on and check for that update. So far I've been so busy though I've only been able to mess around here and there. I've got some characters that I'm working on that I can't wait to UV map. I can't believe I just said that, I'm actually looking forward to UV mapping. :) |

Well I'm a turtle and finally convinced myself to purchase this software for $200 bucks. I went with the Hobbyist purchase mainly because it is not tied to any dongle or nit card. I can install it anywhere without worry.
My objects are all lopsided so the "symmetry tool" is not AS important to me. (but I will miss it:()
(Arthur's note: the preceding statement is called "Justification")
It took about a half day for them to send me the Key after purchase.
I think it will take longer to learn...:o |

Wow, great UV Mapper.
I even like the extra special pricing for Australian buyers. Typical of software vendors here. We get reamed on a daily basis for everything overseas when it comes to software. I'm glad you can't buy TS with Vray on these shores. I would have had to pay 2000+ bucks for it instead of the 1000+ it ended up as.
Sure looks nice though. |
