If you look at the new Little Cloud main page, I have the boy floating in the sky and a balloon. I want the boy to 'float around' so I would like a moving .png file over the plain background. I could do the same with the baloon and maybe the boat. I can't see any way of using layers like this nor how to animate something moving in html.
An animated GIF might be the best approach for that part. As you could just have the part of the image where the boy and the cloud is as a GIF and the rest as the original JPG.
I will pick your brains Hemulin...:DThat brings up images of Starship Troopers. ;) |

Sorted, I didn't realise you could use layers in Frontpage. I have dreamweaver but find Frontpage easier for basic stuff.
Little cloud main page now has the boy floating around in the sky...I could have some real fun with this...:D |

Much better Paul! :)
You should animate the arrows too. Make them get bigger and go side to side when moused over.
Don't forget to narrate the books as well. ;) |

You might need to refresh Jack, they do grow when passed over and I added a back button in the centre so the reader can return to the main book page at any time.
The boy floating around makes me smile...I will need to do more with that sort of thing...:D |

I uploaded a pepe book today and the active links to it. Harold books going in this afternoon and then I will work on all the other links. The full books are still in the sample section for now; I will cut them back once I get further with this. It is easier to keep them there so people can have a look at how it is intended to be without the need for a password. |

Looking great again Paul. I went to the Pepe book following all the links from the front page and you can really start to get a feel for how the finished site will be. AND I LIKE IT!!! :D |

Cheers guys. I uploaded the Harold books last night and a few 'link' images, such as Buddy Village are just placeholders.
Unfortunately I have now restricted the sample books to 3 or 4 pages then you get a sort of 'thats all folks; why not sign up etc.' message. I think that works better than random images. Gets the user 'into' the story then simply ends giving them a valid reason to sign up...well, I think so anyway.
See what you think...:D
I will try to add more books later today and at least make all the main map links active this week.....:)
EDIT: I can always give certain individuals the member details so they can sign in for the 'full' experience (when it is done). I would especially like any trusted forum members with young children who would like to sit and maybe share this with their children to let me know how they found it. And yes, that includes all the stamping of feet asking where the missing stuff is.
Just PM me..... |

I think the method you are using on the samples pages will work fine. I would stick with 1-2 books, perhaps one on the younger end of the scale and the other in the middle range.
It all looks terrific.
Let me know when you are ready and I will start harassing book critics to get to those that do children's literature. When they start to bite I will let you know. They will likely want complimentary access to a couple of the books for their review. |

Brilliant. There should be 3 more Barn Buddies books by the end of the week as well as Iceworld, Chonkyponk, Sandcastle Beach, Planet Hoppers and Jungle Woods. That should cover most of it. Creepy Castle needs a makeover (a lot do actually!!) before I publish it.
Ironic isn't it; I just said publish which is the correct term for uploading a webpage yet I have had real trouble getting these books 'published' in the traditional sense...:D |

I got more done than I expected and there are quite a few more links and books there now. Offer still stands for the membership details but I will add a few more to the sample pages today...:D |

I will take you up on your offer in a few days. My primary machine has suffered a permanent Mobo failure and I am putting together a new one (humorous anecdotes may follow).... I should be back in action by the weekend. |

Learning flash and action script isn't that bad.
It's the continued pain you receive after learning the basics. :) |

Looks like something I will have to learn then...:o
All the books in the member section now have the first 2-4 pages in the sample section too, so you can get a feel for navigation without signing in. |

Cheers Jayr; I will look into this.
I always had in mind the extended 'demographic' of console owners with this project so I viewed it through the Wii the other evening and it looked pretty good on a 42" screen. I was able to sit with my kids on the sofa and read it too....:D |

Mmm...well, there is time. I had hair at their age...:p
They are lovely children though, best thing I ever made...:D
I just hope I can make something of Buddy World before they are much too old to appreciate it. Time is ticking on now; my youngest is 10 next...:o |

Since you are thinking about Flash and maybe looking for a lighter contender than Flash, Adobe Labs has a new version of Fireworks in Beta. (also other programs as well)
It's a capable program and might be worth a spin looking at the Beta to see if it could meet your needs. |

Cool marble fireplace - the subsurface scattering looks convincing too - did you render it in Vray?;) |

Constant exposure and feedback have helped a great deal here guys and I thank you. The main gate needs some real work there so I started with the spaceship which will also be on the secret island (and in DSD!!).
Here it is before I put it behind the fence. Oh, and the gate needs work too. I have to lose pepe but I want to make it wooden to match the fence. Plus, why would you take a 'sneak peek' through the hole in the panel if you can look through the gate?? |

The suggestion to add pepe to the main page was to increase your product presented on the main page. If you don't like him behind the fence perhaps you could put him in front or put one or two of your posters on the fence. |

I did like him there Bill but there was something not quite right about the gate as it was. The whole view was wrong and needed updating. I am not sure I want pepe as a 'mascot' on this page yet and I think it may look cluttered with posters. However, I am always open to suggestions so I may try later.... |

However, I still say the eye in the sneaky peak hole should move about a bit. |

And I might just use that Steve...;)
I am thinking of working on this concept for the actual sign in page....
Mmmm, does the forum not accept animated Gif's? |
