Hi folks. We are hosting another Tuesday night script meeting, same time as last week. Please refer to the web page below for the countdown timer:

http://www.caligari.com/ScriptLive.asp

The topics we discuss are determined largely by what the group wants to learn. So, please feel free to post questions and topics for discussion in this thread, or PM me if you like. This will give everyone a chance to think about the questions and topics prior to the get-together. And, if you have a really cool script or LE topic you want to talk about, bring it!

This is intended to be a collaborative effort, where we all experiment in shared space together, so bring your Red Bull, Tuna Fish sandwiches, Cheetos :) , and whatever other brain power supplement you need.

These meetings are a lot of fun and we never know what will come out of it, but it's always something innovative.

See you there!

Any thoughts on this folks? I should probably go first; I forgot to add mine yesterday.

I'd like to bring in the waving flag again, but, modify it. What I want to do is 'Grow' the flag mesh in real time, adding polygons to the mesh over time, and outputting the mesh.

Off the top of my head, this would require connecting the mesh creation script to a timer; with each timer pulse (for starters), we would add a polygon to the mesh, then output the mesh.

Of course this would require further modification to generate a truly interesting special effect, but at least we could get it started.

What I would like to do with this eventually is create an effect similar to that in the original movie Mortal Kombat. There was a character (Freeze I think? ) who could create mini-glaciers at will; also he could wrap people in ice, etc.

Another thing we could do is drop one or more of the script objects from the library into shared space, and talk about it, and ask questions.

Hope to see you there!

I would like to see how this waving flag works. I didn't know it was possible. Please do something with that.

Sure thing 3dfrog! I'll be getting there late, but I can drop that in, and talk about it.

BTW here's the transcript that I typed up before the meeting. I originally intended to use a microphone but ended up typing it instead.

So here it is in RAR format. Kinda wordy but it explains step by step how I did it.

I want to give credit of course to Jack Edwards whose Morpher Script was used as a baseline to build this. Thanks Jack!

Although I don't know coding at all, I'm planning to be there, and looking forward to it.

With any luck at all, I will get home in time ^_^

Cool butterpaw! You'll definitely get there on time; we're there quite late. Make sure you turn audio On in the chat window. This is a great way to immerse yourself in learning truespace.

It was fun as usual guys. :) I hope Roman cooled off after crashing that UFO into the sun. :p

Looks like I ended up missing a lot though. I saw trueBlue and Froo come in but I was busy with phone calls from family. I must have been hallucinating though because I thought I saw Witchy there too. Na, couldn't have been.

Looked like a good turn out though. I'm glad people are getting into it. Makes it more fun. :)

As always an absolutely great time!

I managed to grab a few screenshots too...

Sorry I wasn't fast enough to do a screengrab of Roman touring the Galaxy for the first time, but I got a shot of someone else doing that afterward and tried it myself too... what a blast this is going to be for us all soon... scripting makes anything possible for us!:D

Great folks, great time, great future ahead!

Yes it was another great evening for the trueScriptor's meeting!
Some excellent presentations added with some new scripting objects made for an interesting time.

It was good to see some new faces show up for the meeting as well. Hopefully we will continue to attract new faces and continue with excellent scripts and fun stuff to play with.

My first time to attend, and I enjoyed it enormously! Even though there was a lot more going on than I could grasp, I did get some of it...
Now I want to learn scripting too.. can anyone script some more hours (and energy) into my days?:D

^_^

I want to script an automatic material finder.

Put in the word log and it finds all tree and wood grains.

Seriously, tonight eh, I'll try and attend - depends on how long my grandchildren will be visiting.

Hi James,

actually the meeting tonight is Caligari's "Thursday Night Live!" event - a cool meeting and lots of fun. The actual Scriptors meetings held in the truePlace Meetingroom are on Tuesday nights every week.

Drop by with this request there, we can probably do something like this together.:)

Hi jamesmc. Just a quick headsup.

There is a trueplace Thursday night chat tonight (biweekly), but it's not script related typically. A focused discussion on scripting and LE related stuff occurs each Tuesday. The Thur. chat is much more general.

I'll try to stop in and say Hi. Both nights are always fun!

Hope to see you there,

Froo
