I have just about given up getting published in the UK as most publishers and agents already have their shutters up and wont even look at new work.

Feedback from those that saw my work was positive but they were doubtful that my style of art (CAD?) would take off.

I imagine that other countries are less 'stuffy' in their perceptions so I wondered if forum members here knew of publishers in their respective company who might be a little more forward thinking. Here in the UK most will not even let you email a simple story or picture to them.

Given the ryhming nature of my stories I would be targetting english speaking countries but the UK is big enough to search through never mind USA/Canada etc.

So if anyone knows of a publisher for whom my work might appeal, please feel free to let me know either here or via email/PM.

Cheers

I can't believe thay're being so blinkered! It's such a waste as well as idiotic as children are well used to cg animation due to there being so much of it on tv.

I'm assuming you've tried the Artist and Writers Yearbook, i wonder if there's and american version...

The short answer is no, I don't know any, but the advice about getting an agent is the best in this thread.

Unless of course you had one who was next to useless, parted company and then you found that no others were even accepting submissions as they were 'full'...:o

That is the case here in the UK for many and those who are not 'full' are not really liking my style of art......hence I asked if anyone knew of publishers who did deal with more 'modern' styles of artwork.

Obviously, I don't know which publishers you've already tried and how much you've searched online (I assume plenty) but tried a bit of a search myself and found a couple of publishers that indicated they would accept direct submissions (i.e. rather than from an agent) and sounded like they might possibly be interested in your sort of material - NB I'm not sure eactly what your target age is? Might be useful to specify...

http://www.iconbooks.co.uk/wizard/wauthors.cfm (aimed at 7+)

Obviously, if you've tried all of those, apologies...

Ironically my last submission was to littletigerpress, they seemed impressed then all went quiet and it took 6 months to get my submission back and it was a fairly hefty full colour glossy affair....:(

I am thinking though about sending just one book and not telling them (for now) that I have a wide range of projects as they may well be daunted by it.

S'funny really, the only reason I have such a wide range of work is because my agent suggested I extend my selection and he kept on suggesting it until it grew so large. I honestly believe that closed a lot of doors for me as the cost of signing up a whole range of books from a first time published author would be too much for most to risk.

Again though, no apologies needed. I appreciate all these suggestions and I intend to follow up on the other two publishers on that list.

Cheers...:D

I have to go with Garion on Lulu. I've been looking at the service they offer in the area of book publishing and they offer a very impressive service. They'll even publish your book for you globally, the service only costing US$99.95!
