Ready to have an absolute blast in truePlaces?:D

Wigand has just made Avatar SpaceFlight in Shared Space a reality today!!!

trueBlue, Frootee, Wigand, and Emma were all working on the development of a working Avatar Spacecraft for us all over the last few days and today they had a massive success!

...and yes... you'll be able to control them with a joystick!!!!!

Here's the thread - read all about it and get ready to have lots of fun!!!!

I was talking with trueBlue about it. He said the last thing he heard Wigand saying was:

"
Es ist ein kleiner Schritt für Mann und einen riesigen Sprung für Menschheit
"

"It is a small step for man and a giant leap for mankind."

That's doable too!

3dv, can you conjure up a broomstick? I ask him cause he's a lot faster with that than I am! :p I'd probably come up with a cylinder and a cube... :D

Man... I wish I spoke German so I could properly congratulate Wigand, that is really one script which will lead directly to hundreds of great new variations and new avatar capabilities we can all have a blast developing and using together for years to come!

He's definitely right there... one giant leap for us all!

By the way... now that he's done this I'll be able to launch my submarine for us all soon with the same methods!:D

Wow... you've been one massively busy guy for a couple of weeks now... the curiousity is killing me 'cause I'll bet you're making something very very cool behind the scenes here! Just a hunch, but if I'm right I can't wait to see what it will be knowing how great and focused your work always is!

Besides.... now that you're an old timer like me and Norm here we need to stick together more!:D

Hope to join you in some other project soon, that avatar matrix conquest and all it led to was a genuine blast and gave us some truly great new abilities that'll be used more and more by everybody here for a very long time to come!

Oh hey... no sweat at all on the musicians model I loaded that night - it was just so Roman would have something interesting to get a screen capture of - that's what he was doing when I dragged it in there! He got a screengrab of it a minute or two earlier so I was just about to delete it from there anyway! No big deal at all - relax!:)

I have to do a Google image search of a clarinette before tuesday though - I don't remember what they look like! Should be easy - it will be a low poly thing anyway - not very realistic but shared space friendly!

I did listen to the mp3 clips you posted here earlier today too... will have to add a guitar loop to them at some point and send them back for you to add to! I will probably take them and loop them, especially the cello piece which I like a lot by the way... my first girlfriend was a cellist - went on to be a famous one too [L.L.] (so I still have a soft spot for cello music:) ).

Before you know it I think we'll have a whole Avatar Orchestra in there! I could script it to play when clicked but somebody with animation talent would also be required to make it more entertaining for sure!

Heheh thanks.. I sort of got the message .. but it's so embarrassing to walk in and break stuff up, lol.. feels pretty silly. :D

I had a really good time, all in all.. ^_^

I'm glad you'll add to sound clips.. mine can be broken up into little snippets too .. there's plenty of quiet between .. could be good for ... press a button, ooh a pretty sound... :D

Glad you like the cello - me too ^_^

I could actually break some up and offer them too... some people might not be into audio modding ;) I have lots of sound effects too.. quite a collection .. foley fun. hmm do we need a special place to offer these things?

Well, not to keep us all off topic here, but sure... there's lots of folks here who are musicians and perhaps a soundclips thread may be a really cool idea here in general.

I use loops as background for freeform creative solo jamming, and I have an idea there may be others here who do the same thing. So a "Community Clips Library" thread of same name and kind would definitely be a nice thing to have here and may even lead to folks here finding new ways to incorporate those clips into scripted objects, animations, and scenes, whether offline or online. Might be worth a try anyway!

Getting back to topic: (ahem....);)

The spacecraft is being looked at now from several different improvement aspects by several folks simultaneously... there is a slight "noise" issue in relation to movement which we are attempting to isolate and eradicate and at this point appears possibly mouse-signal related while the joystick is in use. The development team on this is very talented and I'm confident that the slight "noise" issue will be effectively eradicated soon.

For my part at this point I am looking now at adding retractable landing gear and a dome hinge as well, I am also thinking about lights.;)

To eliminate the noise, turn off the timer. (Just like Dad used say: Close the damn door! I'm not coolin off the neighborhood you know!)

Perhaps, when the mouse is detected as being used, disable the timer on the joystick..

Butterpaw:

We could use some effects for haunted houses! Creaking doors, clanking chains, boohs and ahhhs, whispers, scratches

Please feel free to do the honors and start a thread for sound effects. May I suggest the Garage forum, or Collaboration forums?

Regarding announcing avatars: wouldn't it be funny to have that snooty, snotty voice of the old Renaissance guy (Sir and Madame Frootee Haaave ahhhriiived...) I have got to start the ol voiceover stuff again! I love doing that!

Sound effects links already posted and filed here http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=889 along with a shed load of other useful links.

Hope that's useful.

Awesome - thanks for pointing out the location WWW!

I can start adding things there, and it will be easier to avoid duplicating.
