Here is a demo pic I did to test the displacement map feature. The egg in trueSpace is under 1,000 polys. The mesh I used in Zbrush was over 1.5 million polys. :)
BTW I was unable to use maps that were 2048 X 2048. Maybe its just me doing something wrong. |

Nah, I'm still rendering tests. Over and over again. I was doing real-time work for quite a while, I'm still not used to the waiting ;)
Duh, hit post too soon. I wanted to say the egg's a nice example Liger, and RAYMAN, your post is the perfect way to make a feature request, showing an example and more importantly why you want it. I'll do some tests like that when I start work on the custom SSS shader. |

Fairy Snuff...I wasn't complaining. I just went out tonight to an intimate 'concert' (audience) with John Parr...remember him.
Despite some cheesy 80's moments he is a very credible musician and I taught his son Design. Met a few old faces from the local music scene that I had forgot too...
Anyway, I simply thought I might have missed it. Happy to get it when you are ready Simon...:D |

I'm not, no, and for that reason I'm not putting the update out tonight, sorry guys. The good news is that this allows more time for other things, such as obeying layer visibility, to be added. |

Ok, I'm a bit late on this Dribble thing, but...
I found a bug when rendering to large (greater than 2048?) images, the final image file was inverted and sometimes corrupt. Can anyone verify this? It's not a rendering problem because the intermediate file, the one that 3Delight actually produces in dribble\workingdata\output.tif.bmp (yeah, I know :D) is fine.
It seems I encountered the same problem yesterday when rendering to file at 1680x1050 (full screen resolution). I tried with png and tga. Guess I'll use the dribble\workingdata\output file until this is fixed.
Here's a sample. Sorry about the 3Delight sighs, I got the license today.
Also, I couldn't get GI to work, but I read something in this thread and will try again before I complain more. :) |

Thanks for confirmation. I guess I'm going to have to look at a different way of managing image conversion if this turns out to not be a bug in my code. |

Cool avatar Rayman.
Thank you Jack ! I felt that it was time to give my name a face....
: D
SiW !
The example is the way I want to light scenes ..... if its a feature request
then its a very desperate one . I´m looking foreward to a possible
implementation.....

I'm having a hard time getting the output to be corrupt again! That might sound good, but in reality it means that because I can't see any obvious bug in the code, I can't be certain the problem has been addressed. I'll keep trying. |

Just an FYI, because I'm now using some of the features of later versions of the API, I have to produce different versions of the plugin. This means I need to do more testing (and I want to nail down the large image bug), so I'll continue work and release the update tomorrow. |

Simon, I will be away from home until saturday night. The link to dribble is on my home PC. If you do release a version tomorrow, could you PM or email a link to woodwardp@blueyonder.co.uk so I can mess with it at work?
Understand if it is not possible...:D |

I actually took a well-earned break instead of feverishly testing things. It's basically ready, I just need to rewrite the installer to handle the different versions now, so sometime tomorrow is likely. |

Good news :)
I know the feeling. Sometimes it's good to take a "me" day, especially when the stress starts building up. ;)
Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with. |

I haven't had time to look at Dribble, but I did render a few a week or two ago. Now when I select the render icon in Dribble I get a black screen which goes away when I move the mouse. Did I screw up a setting? |

Are you running 3Delight background server?
Did you register it?
Black screen happened to me while I had 3delight uninstalled, once I put it in again properly it worked fine...:D |

lol, it's funny, I wasted some time last night debugging my display driver because I was getting a black screen too.
It seems that sometimes the lack of a license results in a black screen instead of just the watermark. |

Okay, I think I'm done with the update, but I still have documentation and the installer to update so a release will come either tonight or first thing in the morning. This is the changelog:
1.01
- Switched image libraries which should have fixed the intermittent problems when rendering
large resolutions to file
- Layer visibility is respected for both geometry and lights (tS6+)
- Occlusion toggle for GI
- Raytrace doesn't have to be explicitly set to use GI
- Alpha channel supported in output image for PNG and TGA
- Background and environment shaders no longer set alpha
- Max. irradiance shading rate increased in UI
- Luminance / ambient no longer needed for global illumination
- Normal map support - work in progress
- UVs now properly kept for subdivision surfaces
- "Single-sided rendering" setting now respected, as well as the per-object "Double sided" flag for forcing double sided faces when single sided is enabled
- Bump/displacement mapping amplitude now better matches Lightworks
- Fixed bug with displacementbound causing incorrect cracks
- When using HDRI background/lighting it now matches Lightworks (as seen in tS7)
- Added more details to notes |

Looking good Simon. Looks like we'll be able to see some nice renders right out of the box with the update.
For the next update, you might want to include some test scenes for people to try out as well. |

Prett sure Simon will replace the existing dribble.exe so you simply go back via the download link you bought and you should get the new one...just wait for the announcement first...:D |

When new dribbles are out can one install over existing installations
or does one have to deinstall previous versions. What when we update
to TS7.6 ..... do we have to deinstall and reinstall or will an update
of Ts leave dribble working on the new version.
I´m planning to hop on the dribble train now .... just got 3delight working
and waiting ... just curious!

You can install over the top of a previous dribble installation. When you install a new version of trueSpace or 3Delight, you should reinstall dribble, whether or not you have installed trueSpace or 3Delight over the top of an existing installation.
You'll get to see this in action just as soon as I post the installer, which will be soon. It would have been sooner but I couldn't stop playing Peggle. |

Hi Simon,
please give me the link:o I've payed it!!!
I'm very curious about to test it with Motion Studio.
Do you plan to work on render passes?
