For what it's worth....... It sounds like James may have a license on his system already.
It's really easy to fall into that trap. I had a long-forgotten V-Ray trial that gave me no end of grief when I tried to load the real thing. I drove myself quite nutty trying to figure that one out..........That may be when I turned completely gray....
Don't give up, James, the solution is in there ............ somewhere. :) |

I use to always get the watermark but now I get a black render. Funny thing is that started happening before I installed the new version of dribble!
Same thing here : no more watermarks, just a plain black color when 3Delight is not running.
But when 3Delight is loaded, dribble renders fine.
If you're under a 64 bits system, make sure you run the 64 bits version of 3Delight. |

Emmanuel, Simon told me that the 64-bit version of 3Delight will not interface with dribble. That you have to use the 32-bit version even if you are running on 64-bit OS. It seems to be working fine for me with 32-bit 3Delight.
Also Simon asked about shader requests a while back. I'd like to see some voxel shaders for use with cloud, smoke, and fog, etc., generation. |

Shaders - how about something velvety with a kind of side depth highlight.
What about speed? I noted splinters (in another thread I think) indicating an extraordinary speed differential between dribble (3Delight) and VRay. I'm not expecting it to be on a par with VRay but are improvements possible? |

Hey guys, sorry I couldn't check in earlier, haven't had much time to work. May as well relax a bit and get 1.02 out tomorrow rather than rush it, eh? :)
It's good that you don't expect to get close to V-Ray's speed, because honestly that's it's strength. There's a reason it costs what it does even when there are cheaper - and arguably even higher-quality - alternatives; it's super fast.
That being said, I'll always look for ways to get faster renders, I've mentioned before how 3Delight should be getting new ways to calculate global illumination that could conceivably be much faster, so as soon as they are publically available I'll make use of them. I think we're due for a new public release soon (people who pay for 3Delight support get access to interim releases).
Re: 64-bit, yes Jack I do say that you should only use the 32-bit version of 3Delight. Emmanuel has his own findings, and on his system he had to install both versions, but I think this is an anomaly. |

can 3delight be used in TS normally, or does it have to be used with dribble? |

No mate, dribble is the link to 3delight, tS is not renderman compliant and 3delight is based on renderman.
Ergo, dribble lets you render with 3delight...:D
I mean, £15 is a steal for the displacement alone...:D |
