Here is a little test animation (simulation, rather) done with ClothMotion and rendered using Dribble.
Mr. Simon - please add support for rendering to 24 fps. :) Pretty please! :) |

What version of tS is that in? I didn't think clothmotion worked so well in ts7 and above. Didn't realise you could get such a rubbery look from it. Nice work frank. |

That is so cool Frank. It's amazing what you can do with that cloth motion. |

One of the coolest things I've seen.
It's so a Live...
Keep up the good work!

Brilliant work Frank, can I echo that first question; was this done in tS7?
I have clothmotion but could not get it to work properly in tS7, it just kept resetting itself.
This Dribble has some real potential...especially in the right hands. |

Thats brilliant, really convincing, the way it wobbles combined with the texture, great work Frank. |

Ahh, sorry I forgot to mention... This was done in tS 6.6. ClothMotion version is 1.21g.
Thanks for the nice feedback! I really can't take too much credit, though, as ClothMotion handled the motion, and Dribble rendered it all pretty. :) |

Is there any way to get clothmotion now? That animation was nice.
I've had a look around, but the only reference I could find was an entry in the dead plug-ins section at moonman's site. |

I have attached a Zip containing both the scene file and the ClothMotion settings file.
For those with tS7, or who don't have ClothMotion, I've left the vertex animation in-tact, so you can play the animation without requiring the plugin. For those who can use the plugin, simply make whatever changes you'd like, making sure to do so at frame 0, then start the simulation from ClothMotion.
NOTES:
- Before final render, you should apply SDS to the cloth object. If rendering with Dribble, only one layer of SDS is required.
- If not rendering with Dribble, Area Light intensity will have to be lowered dramatically. |

Chikara at CK Gamefactory has closed shop, apparently.
I've just sent an email to him, asking if perhaps he could put some plugins up for download, similar to what Scott at PrimitiveItch has done (http://www.primitiveitch.com/pub/).
I'll let you know if I get a reply. |

you could try here:
http://emmanuel.asset.free.fr/tsxarchive/index.htm
but i don't think clothmotion in on there. |

Simon,
Wanted to brag on your plugin a bit more. It is EXCELLENT to be able to get modern rendering capabilities from our older versions of tS.
Any encouragement I can give, I will, along with financial support through purchasing upgrades. Was thinking today about how many long-time tS plugin developers have moved on. I know you've been in the tS community for a whiiiiiiiiiile, so.............. stay. Please. :)
...and maybe add 24 fps support to dribble ;) |

This web site makes a cloth simulator. Mente Magica. http://www.mentemagica.com/products.htm I have used the Dynawave program and it is neat..although not to sure that is fully compitable with TS7.5. |

rjeff: Yeah, Alain Bellon is the guy behind MenteMagica. He was another long-time plugin developer. He wrote the very cool Thermoclay and Motionclay plugins. He started on DynaCloth I guess 7 or 8 years ago (I may be off a bit) but never really released it. I was able to see a demo video through being in the #truespace channel, and it was impressive. I think he even had it running in realtime, moving objects around and having them affect the cloth. He had other things brewing as well, like an IK system comparable to MotionStudio. |

it's a pity he can't do a plugin for 7+, truespace still needs plugins for a lot of stuff. |

I saw Frank's animation the other day but wasn't able to respond - looks great! I'm glad that the ability to work with older versions of trueSpace is appreciated, as that was always one of the goals. trueSpace is at a crossroads right now, not everyone is going to go the same way, and it would be nice if I could give as many people as possible the same rendering tools. |

More "Dribble tests and renders" - Experiments with HDRI.
The image with the three little guys had some post work done. Specifically, DOF Pro and Curves adjustment in Photoshop.
Haven't used the standard tS render button for a few weeks now. ;) |

A Dribble render while exploring the power and beauty of TS, Dribble and Fractals used together. I find the "other world" look fascinating. An illustrator could find these techniques quite useful for creating mysterious backgrounds. |

Thats great work steinie, i had a look at the thread for this last night and the far shot of it is good too, Just shows you what happens when you start experimenting. |

something i tried the other day, took a while to render though, if i turned GI on it really slowed to a crawl (so i didn't render it with that), i was wondering what setting people used to get better results. anyway heres the pic:

Looks great but remember to turn raytrace depth down to 2 when using dribble; speeds things up a lot and it is not necessary to set it higher. Just R-Click on the raytrace icon. Helps with the GI.
Apologies if you already knew this...:o |

So, does Dribble render on the dark side of the force...meaning does it work on Workside or only Model side. I am thinking of buying it for TS 7.51. Should I?
Regards,

Dribble Motion Blur Test
This is a frame from a physics simulation specifically to test the way Dribble/3Delight renders motion blur. The method used is much faster than the multi-frame-render sampling used by tS/Lightworks. However, tS/Lightworks must be used if blurring is required on a vertex animation, or anything that involves motion other than scale/translation/rotation.
It almost looks like DOF is used, but it isn't - it's just the way the scene is situated with the blocks dispersing out from the center. |
