Hi folks.

I am posting the link to the tue. night meeting here, since we've been posting here for quite some time but will be posting in the Collaboration forum exclusively in the coming weeks (after all, it IS a meeting i. e. Collaboration right? :p )

I will be updating this link over the next couple hours/days so please watch that thread!

Welcome to Our ~NEW~ Worlds!

The Tuesday Night Script Meetings are about to go where no shared space meetings have ever gone before, yet again.:D

Every week, starting tonight, the Tuesday Night Meetings will be conducted in 2 parts:

Part 1 - Script Presentations and Script Development Workshop

Bring your questions and curiosity, watch presentations of new scripted objects and activities, share scripts you've developed yourself if you like, all in the regular plain wire grid empty room provided for Script testing called "The Scriptorium.":)

Part 2 - Scripted Eyecandy Presentation

When everyone there in Part 1 is ready for it, the room will be completely transformed before your eyes into a cool and completely new scene every week. Here in this new scene and second part of the Scriptors Meetings, we will present new "Eyecandy Script Developments" every week, and you are welcome to bring your own with you too.:D

According to The Captain's Blog and other posts about it here at the forums from Roman, we will all at some point soon be provided with an opportunity to rent "affordable" personal multi-user portals on the Caligari Servers.

When that happens we will all be considering just what to put there, so in the meantime we will be showing you some of the possibilities and ways to script those scenes so that when that day arrives you will all be more than ready to join us in building nice new scripted portal scenes of our own.:)

Here's a glimpse of tonight's new scene for instance, but every week these scenes will be entirely different, so be sure to not miss any, the following day's screenshots just won't convey the experience completely at all.

The trueSpace Scripting Community is making massive progress in many different related fields simultaneously. Come join us there and discover why we're so excited about the future of shared space for yourself.

See you there!

Hahahaha!!!!

You are definitely right!;)

By the way....

Frootee doesn't even know what's going to be in that second half, so for any of you who have already heard a rumor about something entirely new and cool which will be presented in that second half of the meeting tonight... the scene itself is not what was being referred to... there's something else in that second half which you just have to see for yourself.:D

Oh one other thing...

All our truly talented friends "on the other side of the pond" over in Europe may soon have a new Script Developers Meeting as well... held here on Sundays, providing us all an opportunity at last to have a time for all this development stuff which is equally convenient for all of us in Europe and in the States.

If you'd like to take part in those meetings be sure to say so here because we're considering this right now and your input on it will be vital.

Thanks,

See you all in a couple of minutes folks.

Feel free to bring anything with you to discuss with us all or present to us all, or if you have anything you'd like to have scripted but just don't know how, these meetings are the perfect place to bring them up.

I'm an absolute newbie at all this myself and still manage to make some pretty cool stuff by just hacking things other more talented folks have made for other purposes. It works for me, so drop in and lets make it work for you too.:p

...and you never know... somebody unexpected may just drop in and surprise us all tonight.;)

Wow, a huge turnout and a lot of fun!

I did manage to grab one screenshot last night which I'm attaching to this post, then I have 5 offline screengrabs of what was shown there last night to supplement it with which I'll pop into the post which follows.

It was great to see so many talented Scriptors show up last night, it's very encouraging and exciting when we all pull together in shared space to learn, teach, collaborate, share, and even when we come just to have fun together.:D

Every week now we'll be providing entirely new scripted scenes, objects, and activities in our "Part 2" segment for us all to examine, modify, and enjoy together. Everyone who shows up at these meetings is encouraged to bring their own scripted items as well if they wish and the opportunity to share what you have created with everyone there will be provided every time.

Lot's of folks who don't consider themselves to be "Scriptors" come to these meetings and are always welcome there too. It's a great chance to see and learn new things, and a lot of those new things are definitely quite a lot of fun to explore together there, especially in entirely new shared space scenes every week.

Frootee's acomplishment here with the development of new working access and manipulation methods for introducing MySql Database functionality and new related capabilities into all our upcoming shared space scenes is a genuine breakthrough of the highest order. There are hundreds of ways this will be used in the years ahead by all of us, it opens some very nice doors!

Thanks everyone, it was great sharing with you, and as always lot's of fun!:D

See you next week with an entirely new scene and a few nice new goodies to go with it too!

Here we go again folks... Tuesday October 23rd Script Development Meeting Part 2 is being set up now and should be a lot of fun as always!:D

I have absolutely no idea who will be presenting what for the Part 1 segment of the meeting but I know there's bound to be something interesting there for sure as always. I've noticed that several of our best Community Scriptors have been dropping in to these Tuesday Night Meetings lately so perhaps one or two of them will surprise us all with some of their great scripted stuff, you never know what we might just pull out of our hats together in there this time!:D

In keeping with our new "Welcome to Our ~NEW~ Worlds!" 2 Part Meeting Format started last week, I've created a new scene for us all to play in this time and every week the scene will be utterly different from the week before. We had an outstanding turnout last week and we all had a lot of fun together there so be sure not to miss this coming Tuesday Night Meeting at all, it should definitely be a blast!

The Tuesday Night Script Meetings are about to go where no shared space meetings have ever gone before, yet again.:D

Every week, the Tuesday Night Meetings will be conducted in 2 parts:

Part 1 - Script Presentations and Script Development Workshop

Bring your questions and curiosity, watch presentations of new scripted objects and activities, share scripts you've developed yourself if you like, all in the regular plain wire grid empty room provided for Script testing called "The Scriptorium."

Here's a glimpse of this coming Tuesday's new scene for instance (I'm not showing you everything here though;)), but every week these scenes will be entirely different, so be sure to not miss any, the following day's screenshots just won't convey the experience completely at all.

Hi Steve,

I'm glad to see you returning here! After our last discussion together I'm looking forward to working with you and introducing you as best I can to the many potentials of shared space and immersive desktop development. I'm encouraged that you're taking the plunge together with us now into shared space, and I can't think of a better place for you to get into it all than in the Tuesday Night Script Developers Meetings. They are a lot of fun and very informative, and we're always happy to see new faces there! :)

Be sure to check your PM (Private Messages) here too today, I sent you a more detailed welcome there as well just now.;)

Since "how to get there" is something we all need to know, I've included the following links which provide greater detail on specifics in that regard:

(1) Getting a Password and Username to enter truePlaces:

(Our Tuesday Night Meeting is held inside a truePlace Portal (#1212) and you will need both a Password and Username to enter there which is different from your Caligari Customer Password and Username. Also be sure to get your truePlace Password and Username during Caligari business hours well before the meeting begins)

http://cart1.caligari.com/web/trueplaymainreg.aspx (http://cart1.caligari.com/web/trueplaymainreg.aspx)

(2) Instruction Page on Port Address Settings in trueSpace 7.5x:

(Note that the following instructions show you how to set the portal entry point in trueSpace to the truePlace Meetingroom (tpportal 1111) where once you arrive you will find an easel with an image on it which says "click here to enter the Scriptorium," and one you click on that image you will be instantly transported to the actual Script Developers Meeting held in tpportal 1212)

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=43977&postcount=30 (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=43977&postcount=30)

(3) truePlace "Scripting Live1" Page: (with countdown timer in PST):

(This is the Caligari Countdown Timer and Info Page for our Tuesday Meetings)
http://www.caligari.com/ScriptLive.asp (http://www.caligari.com/ScriptLive.asp)

(4) The "connect to shared space" icon in truSpace7.5x:

The "connect to shared space" icon in trueSpace7.5x looks like two Avatars facing each other (ie: sharing space).

When you are all set and ready to connect you just need to click the appropriate icon in trueSpace and then enter your truePlaces Username and Password into the Dialog Box which will then pop up, then hit the "connect" button on the Dialog Box.

Welcome aboard Steve, this will be a fun time and we'll be looking forward to seeing you there!

Hi everybody,

Some of the other Scriptors in the Community may be making additional presentations of one kind or another throughout both parts of the Tuesday Night Script Developers Meeting on October 23rd in the Scriptorium (tpportal 1212).

No matter what else gets presented there though, I'd like to provide each of you with an opportunity to share your own pre-made 3D models with us all there which you would like at some point to place online in your own scenes.

As you will see in the images on the following post:

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=50982&postcount=16 (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=50982&postcount=16)

A new Portal Scene just for use on that particular Meeting night has been prepared which offers 7 Stages, platforms where we can place our own 3D Models and/or Scripted 3D Objects and share them together for discussion and examination.

Everyone is encouraged to bring your own creations to these meetings as always for this purpose, and every new Meeting Portal Scene has special places provided within it specifically dedicated to such presentations.

Please note that in order to bring a 3D Object (scripted or not) into these online environments from trueSpace the objects cannot exceed a file size of 1 meg without first seeking permission to do so (at the time) from Norm, me, or Frootee. This is very important in order to be certain that the overall scene filesize does not instantly become unmanageable, especially for dialup and broadband folks attending the meeting when new objects are introduced.

Needless to say you would feel pretty bad about dragging in a great new model of yours which caused everyone to instantly crash because it was larger than the scene at that moment would allow. Larger file sizes may in some cases be permitted but may require us to first delete other objects from the scene (or the entire scene itself) before introducing new objects accordingly.

Dragging in objects can be OK under many circumstances, but always ask someone who is managing a given meeting before you do so. Thanks.:)

Also if you have pre-created scenes designed for use online in shared space already, please contact me via PM here about an opportunity to share it/them with us all. The whole idea here is to help each other develop our own scenes together designed for eventual shared space deployment, not just to have a "Mark Scene Of The Week!" Shared Space is for all of us and we'd all love to see what others plan to bring to it.:)

We will need to have a very close look at the contents and filesize of any actual scenes in advance of possibly placing them online though, of course, and accordingly they should be presented to one of us for examination a day or two in advance in case they may require any related modifications. Just PM me about it a few days in advance and we'll arrange a scene inspection.

Thanks folks,

This Tuesday Night should be a lot of fun as always and I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!
