Nice thanks for the DL 3dfrog! :D BTW, what are the usage rights on these HDR files?

I don't know what the usage rights are. It is a free download I got somewhere, don't remember where. I wouldn't use them as backgrounds in anything. I'm sure just as light probes source they are fine.

This may be useful too:

Has anyone of you ever achieved realistic

caustics effects with dribble.

I ran a test with a gem stone on

both dribble..left and Kerkythea(MLT)...right and those two renders

are just soooo different.

Same mesh ..pretty much the setup and....like 2 planets.

None better just realy different!!

A lot to respond to.. that'll teach me to focus on coding today :P

Thin sheet SSS - If that thin sheet isn't supposed to be textured like that, it looks like a scale issue. Change the scale and play with the SSS shade rate to match. I wasn't able to duplicate the original pic you posted a while back btw, but I didn't try that hard either.

Caustics - I haven't had a lot of luck getting tight/sharp caustic effects, I really wish 3Delight had a photon map visualization tool like PrMan (and Pixie, though the tests I've tried with Pixie have all refused to render photons at all) to aid testing

Fur - with this first fur material, I do plan on adding the ability to add randomness to the settings that will be available (most likely length, curl, gravity) to make things look a little more natural

Volumetrics - I think I might just give up the idea of mapping the Lightworks settings to a RenderMan shader here, and just add the UI to dribble. Will make more sense for users I think.

Future plans - whether or not a pro version will happen or not is still up in the air. If I can add more advanced features without making it too complicated to use, that would in turn lead to more people buying it, then maybe I don't need a more expensive pro version after all.

I think that's the right way to go, i know i'd feel better if all the options were in one UI, it feels less confusing.

Steinie replies:

I think it would be great if you only supported one plan. How would we get upgrades if we bought early? I want to stay in the loop and the download limit put a kink in my plan. I'm looking at this long term and look forward to the day Dribble is on the WorkSpace side.

Oh, I just want to clarify something (and I should put this on the site) - the download limit is just a security thing, to make sure your private download link doesn't get used by anyone else. In no way is it tied to your ability to get upgrades or whatever. If for any reason your download limit is reached, just email me and I'll reset it (as I have for several people already)
