Is that a real one or a model of one? |

Is there really only about 1000 people using ts? I guess 7.6 will not be free ;)
I wonder how many users there actually are that don't use the forums. |

i think ot said something like '163 active users' maybe they're the ones who have posted at least 1 message.
Maybe there are more who havent made a forum account, does it work like that? |

Yes, you definitely have to sign up for the forum separately, so I'm sure there are more users than that! But still, 1000 forum members is definitely something to celebrate! :D

Hi all,
Just to confirm, the numbers who sign up to the forums are unrelated to the numbers who own tS. Signing up here is completely separate from registering your copy of tS etc, and is completely optional. I believe that the majority of tS owners not only never take part in the forums, they actually never even sign up :)
So the post would be more accurately called "1000 Forum Members Event". BTW this is something we noticed a few weeks ago, that the forums were approaching 1000 memberships, and we have been considering what we might do along the lines of celebrating or marking that in some way :)
HTH!

Yeah, I can see there being more than 1000 users...
I never signed up for about a year and it was only when I saw the 7.5 offers and needed some help with 6.6 when I really started using the app that I signed up... |

1000 isn't the number I look at since it really doesn't mean much. "Active" members should show us the interest level these Forums generate and that tells us a lot. Back on 1/8/2007 there were 648 Forum members and 167 Active members. Today there are 984 Forum members and 166 Active members. The percent is less so we are not getting more people involved here. That would be my focus if I want to keep a fresh, active Forum alive and strong. There are a lot of Regulars here but we need to keep bringing in new blood to keep us growing. |

Just so everyone knows, some advance posting here on the forums -
The 1000th sign up on the forums will win trueSpace7.5 if they don't already own it; if they happen to already own trueSpace7.5, then they will win a year of proTeam (which will extend their current pT membership by a year if they are already a pT member of course).
Emails will be going out soon, good luck to any new forum members who sign up! You can't lose anyway, since signing up here lets you take part in discussions with trueSpace masters, ask for advice, share your WIP images and much more. I have always loved being part of the tS community (long before I ever worked at Caligari and was just a trueSpace user, and in fact my involvement in the community helped me land the job here too naturally, so you just never know where things might lead!).
Note that you will have to be a new sign up - so our apologies to those already signed up, but you won't be eligible by simply signing up again under a new name.
Thanks!
Tom
PS - just saw Steinie's post after I posted mine. Indeed new blood is good to get new ideas, comments, thoughts, suggestions, images, styles and more. This is of course the reason we are celebrating the 1000th member and offering a big prize for it, and why it has to be new sign ups - we would really like to encourage folks who own tS and who don't jump in here and take part to get started :) Everyone here would love to hear from new people, with all the new creativity and ideas that will spawn from having new personalities on here! Of course we hope that once they sign up they will find the forums fun and invaluable, and will turn into an Active Member, rather than just signing up and never using the forums - but then that's up to those of us here on the forums already to make it such a great place they will want to be part of it :) |

Cool TOM!!!! That is what i call a Celebration!
About the active members i think that number only show those freakying guys posting and posting all the days.. like you Steinie (sure not me) :D
There is many people who regulary enter to see what's new, searching answers. technical questions, tips, etc.. or just to see some good works..
I belive that not count as an active member. but yes as a regular members..
What ever.. Im happy to be part of this growing international community..
Im gonna cry! :D |

I am curios what constitutes an Active User? Is it solely number of posts? Or do Number of posts per day have any effect?
Inquiring minds want to know :D
Now who was the little rat that has gotten away... Don't they realize when ya join our little group, you're in da family for life? Time ta send out da boys, we needs ta get people in line around here :D

I think it would be fun if all the active members' names were put in the 'pot' and a random draw was held... As Splinters said, many people have contributed a lot, and it would be nice to know someone like that, or someone very keen gets a goody from such an event.
I've had a lot of good help from generous spirited members .. and even newer members have asked questions that, when answered have helped me too.
Well maybe it's too late to make the suggestion but.. there's my contribution to the idea pot. :D
On a personal note, while I'd love to get Caligary goodies, I think I should focus on learning to use what I've got (7.51, which is quite marvellous already), before indulging in more. But I'll bet there are many others who would like to have 7.5 too, or some other goody ^_^ |

This is a nice idea for a promotion. Maybe not the best idea to announce it before hand though. Nobody will want to join the forums before it hits 999 now. Maybe you can alter this thread so newcomers don't know about it. |

Well either someone turned off the counter or the counter doesn't go as high as 1000. Splinters was right about the rush of registrations. We shall see who hangs around. |

I have tracked that number since I joined and it seems the Magic number is 179. Keep an eye on it now and then and you will see what I mean. If it grows then I think we're doing a better job here by keeping the place educational and fun. |

I belive the prize must be only for Caligari customers who step forward to the forum.. Not for the general people who enter just once for a prize.. |

Yeah Prodigy, one cannot sign up for the forums unless you are a Caligari customer.
So I suppose any product would qualify as well as any version of software. |

Your right guys about getting stiffed.
What good is all the signups if Caligari doesn't take advantage of it. The Regulars here for the long haul will watch them come and go like the tide. What we DO have to our advantage is being in the loop, being listened to, a place to post your WIP for feedback, making new friends, and on special occasions eating Steinie's Pumpkin Pie (or cake)...free TS 7 sounds better doesn't it...:( |

Wow everyone is being so negative!
The prize is for the 1000th person who signs up. Our email and web page hav emphasised that the forum is a great place to be and to take part and talk to tS masters, so we're telling folks how good it is here.
Whether they stay and take part will be up to us all (and I have to say that a whole lot of messages saying how they are just one shot sign ups who will drop the active users percentage is NOT a welcoming message for these sign ups to encourage them to stay!).
Come on all, trueSpace Ambassadors remember! Make this place so nice to visit and participate in that we raise the active percentage as a result of this! Keep it interesting, fun, exciting, challenging, educational and all the other great things the forum can be - we've just drawn the forum to the attention of many who might not have given it a glance, so now they are in here and having a look, let's show them how this forum can shine :)
Thanks!

You never know.... Caligari may be waiting to see who amongst the new members starts posting in here now and how much they post, and then award additional activity prizes.;)
If I were thinking about joining now I wouldn't give up trying just because one lucky guy hit the jackpot... it's a big casino here and everybody has plenty to gain every day.:)
