How adorable .. two lovely little 'Halloween' girls! :)
I bought candy, but had no trick-or-treaters after all. (too bad, I always enjoyed having them come around) My daughter has just discovered how much candy stash her 3 sons have brought back home.. oh my!! :p
Here's an old girl (me) enjoying her one day to play 'dress up' ;)
HAPPY HALLOWEEN Y'ALL

Cute costumes. I only got 3 groups of kids trick or treating. I live on a busy road so thats probably why. Got a bunch of candy left over so if you still want to trick or treat butterpaw, stop by my house ;) |

I have to live vicariously through this thread, because Amy had to work and we were all sick/getting over being sick so there was no trick or treating. Maybe next year! |

Haha..it was fun to have this little thread.. I loved the pics, the comments and the offers of candy :D (which I totally don't need, as you can see :p)
btw the 'costume' is really just the hat which has a LOT of feathers and tinsel. The dress is just a long summer dress that happens to have stars and moons on it, and I wore it with a black shirt both for warmth and effect. I think it kind of works ;)
The young'uns outshone me of course .. what old sorceress can compare with a sweet little angel and wee 'newborn' :p
(btw I have a new grandson who was born on 15th October - I get to go visit the family in Virginia Beach for Thanksgiving - w00t!)
Some people think it's a bad holiday, but despite Time Warner's offering of the an entire week's worth of the meanest, scariest, goriest and yes, some of the stupidest movies they could dredge up*, I've never seen it as anything more than a fun day to dress up in costumes and make it fun for the kids .. fortunately a lot of people still get that.
*my apologies to those who like those movies.. you should be able to enjoy them - I was just grumpy because TW took away all of the stuff that's fun for me.. I couldn't find anything for stumbling around in the dark over gory arms and legs and all that blood, lol :p
... and LOLZ, thanks 3dFrog, but I've got masses of candy left over.. you'll just have to get creative - as will I. :D |

well hey, speaking of movies butter,
Nellja, Derwilla and I watched a black and white British flick, "Dead of Night". A really interesting psychological thriller. Nellja recorded that late at night some months ago on TCM (Turner Classic Movies). Then we watched a cheezy 1968 Japanese horror film, called "The BodySnatchers from Hell". Overacting, cheap effects, the works! But it was still fun to watch. No gore or thrashing. It was actually funny! :p |

Movies? Who needs movies when you can see a real haunting? :p
Last night the Ghost Hunters did another 6hr live investigation. Last year it was at the Stanly Hotel (that's a haunted hotel in Colorado that Stephen King got the inspiration for "The Shining" from). Anyway, last night they were at Waverly Hills Sanatorium. It's now a rundown abandoned building, but it was a tuberculosis hospital back in the early 1900's. Over 63,000 people died there. It's considered one of the scariest places on earth.
These live investigations are really fun. On top of being live on television for 6hrs, they also put a live feed on the web of the cameras that they have set up so people at home can help watch for paranormal activity. They have a panic button that you can press to send messages to the investigators if you see anything strange.
It was funny near the end of the investigation. They had a special guest on the show as they did last year. Last year they had pro wrestler CM Punk from the WWE. This year they had pro wrestler Elijah Berk. Elijah was freaking out. It was pretty funny to see a huge pro wrestler screaming like a little kid. Apparently he felt someone touch his back and when he turned around there wasn't anyone there. He took off running and screaming, LOL. It was hilarious.
They kept seeing black shadow people darting through the hallways, strange lights in the "body chute", and a couple of people got touched. So hopefully they got some good video evidence or EVP's. Last time they were at Waverly they caught some strange figure running across the hallway with the thermal cam. Hopefully they caught more evidence as good as that one. They will be revealing the results of the investigation next Wednesday. I can't wait to see what they caught.
Anyway, that's what I did last night. Those live investigations are pretty fun. :) |

@ rjeff - ooh scary gun! O_O ... My former husband was a game warden in Kenya, and had a .470 Nitro Express - an 'elephant gun' (it was extremely heavy - I could hardly lift it to my shoulder- never fired it) that was quite a long time ago, and they used thunderflashes instead of guns whenever possible However, occasionally ... ah well... I have eaten elephant meat.. it does NOT taste like chicken.
@ frootee - great choices.. I get a lot of fun out of the old movies! ^_^
@ Prodigy - thankies! :p
@ Dele - Yeah I like Ghost Hunters .. I should have watched.. but I was wrestling with booleans, lol - glad it was so entertaining!
@ SiW - sorry things aren't fun right now.. but I think the thread's been entertaining for us all .... I hope everyone's feeling better very soon! ^_^
@ spacekdet - hahahahahahahahahahah I just love that! great jack-o-lantern too! :D (yeah... there's candy everywhere I look.. it calls to me.. every desk in the library has candy.. my house has candy .. oh nooooooooo |

Two very little kids approached my front door and the little boy noticed my bubbling cauldron. As he reached for it his Dad said "don't touch that" and he asked "why?"
I was standing at my front door and heard this so I answered "so you don't turn into a frog" All of a sudden his younger sister burst out in tears "I don't want to be a frog, I don't want to be a frog, ..."
I gave them both extra candy. :) |

@Dele:
Speaking of hauntings, we went to the Lizzy Borden house on a rainy day in MA. We talked to the owner in the cellar, and took her picture; a couple. All of them were very fuzzy. Interesting. Earlier I went to the restroom and I felt like someone backed into me; I turned around and there was nothing for me to butt into. The owner said there was a favorite cat that passed away there. Maybe he/she smelled our kitties and hung out with me... maybe!
