I was just kind of curious if anyone uses the flash plug in that is featured this week? I've been trying to find additional information on it. Possibly some before and after images or something. Anyway, any information would be great, I'd like to check it out especially with it being at a reduced price.
Thanks! Oh and I hope this is the right forum for this... |

Hi Tyler
The flash plugin is pretty good. You can make it look like toon or like a render into a swf file. The only thing I don't like about it is you can't render animations made in workspace with it. It is model side only. The interface is very simple. If your interested in using it to make sophisticated toons you should look into uvtoon shader. Then try to use the two together. The plugin is good for simple toons on its own though.
Attached is a swf made with it. Just a few objects in a scene.
I dont use it much I just got it for fun last time it was on sale. Someone more experienced may have more details.
Edit: I tried mixing uvtoon and flash plugin. ts crashed a lot and the results weren't very good. Maybe not the best solution. I think the plugin is still a cool deal to make swf's of your scenes. |

Thanks for the response as well as the quick demo. I'll definitely have to keep an eye on it as well as check out your other alternative. Of course I'm not really close to even making anything with it so maybe I'll keep an eye on it for later down the road.
That kind of stinks that it won't work on workspace though. So, it would probably become obsolete with newer versions. Thanks again for the feedback! |

If you use DX9 toon shaders. It should be possible to get a nice cartoon style SWF animation by exporting your frames, then either encoding to lossless AVI then converting to SWF or encoding directly to SWF using a 3rd party encoder app.
Here's a freeware SWF encoder:

It would be nice to have for workspace the "one-click" solution that the Flash TS plugin provides for model-side... ;)
The question is would enough people pay for it, to justify the development costs? |

I also want to note that CamStudio comes with an AVI->SWF app called SWF Producer.
You can get CamStudio here:
http://camstudio.org/
CamStudio is a great little app for recording vids so of problems you're having in TrueSpace and post them here so that the community can better help out with your specific problem.
I haven't been able to get the new 2.5 version to work on Vista x64 yet, but 2.0 works fine. :) |

This object “ D3d animation render v2.RsObj “ here http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=3587 created by clintonman can be repurposed for using with the flash output as it will allow for some of the workspace keyframes from the new animation editor to be passed to the model animation KF editor if you use this object , some animation parameters will pass through the bridge to the model KF and it will allow for some flash output to be made from workspace animations, however it will not pass the bones animation and skin deformations across as the model window does not have the capacity to relate to these changes from the workspace.
Note -- it will also create an image sequence of the workspace DX render as well in the location to where the render to file for workspace is set up, so if you dont need those image files then be aware that they will be written.
edit-: you also will need to make sure the auto-record for KF is on in the model window if you want to capture the keyframes from workspace |

Can you also use the toon/sketch render modes of the Flash Plugin without exporting to SWF? The page with the details about the flash pak doesn't really make that very clear...
Thanks in advance :) |
