Good idea Norm.
Could be like award of a single ribbon and then rows could be built just like the military does. Could make a chart like Prodigy has shown in PSD format and the appropriate ribbon downloaded if one qualifies for it.
In the military, they award "oak leaf clusters" for successive normally awarded ribbons and devices for special recognition - "V" for Valor.
Of course, rank of said ribbons would have to be decided as well. The most prominent is at the very top left (as you are looking at them) then the ribbons cascade down to the lowest level.
Here's a suggestion format for Norm's idea - just prelim stuff. |

I forgot to add, one can "bury" a hyperlink into each ribbon/device so they can see what it is, what webpage it might have or what it stands for. |

Nice ideas James.
It is really for the community to take the ball and run with it on this and you surely did just that :)
Augusto's medals scenario is quite interesting too. Lots of great ideas to pull from. |

This amount of regalia is enough for a small army. What about a small war? For example against users of malicious magic Houdini.:D Prodigy has already prepared medals. Just imagine:
Nobody wanted this war. Caligari even gave TS5 for free as a sign of peace, but Houdini drop the price trying to conquer a ThreeDiField. All eforts ot TS Ambassodors had no effect. Steinie weared black spy glasses of Classic12 was even in External Galleries. Jack Edwards conducts negotiations with Queen Kerkythea but still unsuccessful. It's time for the Battle! Steinie begins artillery preparation using his clowns loaded cannons. MadMouse sends in front his Fat Boy. Blakeo dressed in the Suit of Armour is in the secong echelon. Yes too heavy! A general goal for now is to cross the Dribble. Should the Bridge be ON ? Frootee digging the LE trying to find an answer. Caligari's butterfly has appeared in the sky. It must be ROMAN. He is looking round the battlefield. We need your secret weapon - TS 7.6 ! Time to launch it! .....
You can continue.:D |

Comon guys! For this short beginning I spent more time than for SMC. And I can imagine how awfully my english sounds for your ears. We have at least one good writer but I am afraid he is delayed by weather conditions. You know - Little Cloudy:D |

If the size I offered was acceptable for "badge", how about someone come up with trueSpace Mentor award? We could then create next badge until we caught up.
Who can volunteer? If we get more than one idea we could vote on it here too. First we do ts mentor! |

Here's a simple two layer psd file what I submitted on ribbons. The ribbons and devices are on separate layers (both transparent.) However, since I made it in a vector program, I didn't make each item an object, so just two layers of objects.
or maybe not, PSD upload has a 19.5kb max size :D |

19.5kb? :D muahah, how large is a psd scene with that size *g*
test test... lol a one layer psd file with a size of 20x20px has still 21kb.
Or is there a compression format from psd I don't know ^^ |

After you said compression, the light bulb came on and I uploaded it as a compressed rar. heh |

Here's the objects I used in the above previous ribbon file. It's in PNG format and transparent, so it will be easy to cut and paste as one sees fit. |

I quite liked the medals idea, so feeling inspired knocked up some simple medals and ribbons, deliberately keeping them nice and small for tidyness...
There's winner and runners up (gold and silver) medals for the SMC, MMC and TNL challenges, gold and silver 'A'mbassadors, a 'M'entor badge and a 'C' for Caligari folks ;) Suppose someone might want a Pro-Team 'P'?!
For repeat awards, you could add bars to the ribbon - so a plain ribbon would be one win, add a bar for a second or two bars for a third, as per the two examples shown. For a fourth win, start a new medal and then add bars for further wins after that...
Realistically, I can see it's unlikely that anyone would necessarily want to use these particular icons but maybe someone could develop something similar but better! I like Prodigy's use of the hour glass and Jauguar for the SMC and TNL images but wasn't sure they'd scale them down small enough to use as the medal shape and keep them clear. I personally wouldn't want something too loarge in the signature area and some of those proposed previously were a shade big, particularly if you need to show several, as in Jack's case. |

Looking pretty cool so far.
It should be up to the community members what you go with in end. |

Thanks Mark. :)
I have a plan though. My idea is that if I can win an MMC challenge then I'll have the MMC on the left side and the SMC one on the right. ;)
'Course if it could be a while... lol :D |

Excellent, great idea!
I do that too.. I set up little rewards for myself only to be enjoyed when I accomplish certain milestones in the development cycle of a given project. It has always helped me drive on when I reach those discouraging points in the cycle that I guess all of us encounter in project development. Works for me anyway!:p
Good luck then with the next challenge!:)

A little late but I only just got round to getting these in the sig - I've used Prodigy's contribution, slightly altered and added a Monthly version :D:D
Prodigy had already done the work for these, so thanks to him :)
