Hey guys,

Frank (and Mick, and now Paul while I'm writing this..) alerted me to the concern for my well-being, so I thought I should pop in and allay any fears :)

I'm fine, there's nothing wrong, the reason for the radio silence is a simple lack of time / opportunity to use the computer. Since Amy (my wife) has gone back to work to try and maintain a more regular income, I'm being the househusband and taking care of the children. Because Amy's also going to school, watching the kids is a full-time job and there's very little time left in the day before I'm too tired to do anything but watch anime and fall asleep. What time I have managed to snatch I've devoted to working on dribble rather than hang on the forums.

So yes, there has been some progress with dribble, don't worry! One thing I was able to solve was the issue of global illumination not behaving as expected in certain situations, for example reflected light from a bright light source. 3Delight needs a slower method of calculation to handle that, so I've added it as an option, but when using photon maps it's not that much slower.

As far as a release date goes, yes, I think it's better to go back to "when it's ready". I'll post updates as I can, but you'll just have to trust me that I'm not slacking off ;) Also, regarding the price change to $50, I'll hold off on that until I'm ready to make the next release - I don't want anyone to think that I've tried to get a price hike in there and am holding off releasing.

Thanks for all your concern, and of course your support. What a wonderful community this is!

LOL, sounds like my average day. :D

Good to see everything is going ok. It's always good to keep busy with the kids.:)

You ever have one of those periods where everything is aligned just right and anything you do comes together perfectly?

Yeah, this isn't one of those times.

My development PC died last night, and I'm not sure why. I thought it was the power supply, but it worked in someone else's machine, so I'm looking at the motherboard. Until I can afford to replace it I won't be doing any substantial dribble work, but at least I'll have an internet PC to keep in contact.

And here was me thinking 2008 was going to be a better year

There I am thinking I had a bad day because my printer died! (and I got magenta ink all over me at work - but that is another story.)

I look forward to the update whenever it arrives. That will definitely be a good day. :)

Generous offers guys (again indicative of our great community here, yes?) but fingers crossed I can keep going. Long story short, it does look to be a PSU issue, I have my mother-in-law's PSU in here now and while it might turn out to be underpowered, I am at least on my dev machine and can look at getting a new PSU when I can afford it.

Of course, it would have to happen on a Tuesday, one of the two days I can usually guarantee a solid few hours' work :|

That is good news Simon, you know how keen I am to continue working with Dribble (just as soon as I get some free time...:o) The offers of hardware here are surely testament to the interest of other users too. Keep well and good luck with the development.
