I know there are a few people here using it, the newest version is now available. I haven't had a chance to play around with it yet.... going to be doing that now.

Great news Rich! Thanks for the heads up on it!
I was lovin' the last version so I'm dyin' to try this one out now for sure. It's one excellent companion program for trueSpace and we can take those models a lot farther with trueSpace too!
Thanks!

This is kind of a cool new version in some ways. I was hoping they would have the clothing morphs ready with this release since they had been showing them at their dev site for about 5 months now, but they seem to be indicating another release is about to come out soon too, so maybe it will have that by then.
I was surprised also that many of the posing tools aren't functional in this release but were in the earlier release, I can pose legs in the older one for instance but not the newer one. Fortunately I still have the older version installed though, so this is a nice extra for that version anyway.
I made a human model to pop in this thread so folks unfamiliar with the output of this new release can at least get an idea of the potential for rigging in trueSpace. It exports in Collada and Obj formats too.
I modeled the hair and shorts on this Dude after the fact though, not inside Makehuman itself.
Thanks again for the heads up Rich!

I wish I could test it, but it is supposed to be able to do Collada with Bones! That would be nice... no way to test that though... hopefully in the near future that will change.

Yep, I never thought I'd actually have a use for Collada, but this would definitely be a good tool to use it with as a trueSpace companion tool for sure.
Oh well.... onward we go!:p
Thanks guy,

I've read on other forums that the MH Collada is incomplete.
The free Autodesk FBX converter (can convert Collada to other formats, 3dS, FBX, OBJ) appears to cough and sputter on the collada to every format but 3DS and OBJ. |
