Hi folks,

This Sunday something entirely new will be coming to shared space and our Community here... an exciting new weekly Sunday meeting and workshop called "Developers Outreach."

These meetings will be on Sunday every week beginning at 12:00PM PST.

About this upcoming meeting:

Initially we will utilize the Scriptorium Portal in truePlace for these meetings, but that will hopefully change very soon as we get underway together in this. Last week we had a server crash on us during an automatic server backup while we were all in the portal together in the midst of a very lively market discussion and we were all unable to return to that portal to reconstruct that meeting afterward.

We do have a different server at our disposal to use in such situations but it is a trueSpace-only server so folks using truePlay to access the meeting in the event of another server crash will not be capable of logging in there without using the trueSpace7.5Demo or using trueSpace7.xx directly. Still, to be on the safe side we will designate tsportal 1111 as our alternate meetingplace for this upcoming Sunday just in case, in the unlikely event of a similar crash of the tpportal server.

About all Developers Outreach meetings:

"Developers Outreach" will be an extremely active new "Community workshop," focusing very specifically on the following things:

1) 3D Immersive Scene Design and Marketing

Developing our individual skills together (both individually and in focused voluntary teams) in the specific direction of designing immersive scenes for direct personal income.

In this part of the workshop we will be examining and developing 3D Immersive Scenes for actual sale, lease, and licensing, worldwide.

There are numerous ways to secure an income through 3D Immersive Scene Design both offline and online (shared space portal packages, shared space server packages, Immersive truePlay CD's, etcetera) and we will be discussing them all together. Beyond that, in each case we will also actually be "going for it," both individually and in teams, the objective at these workshops being actual income rather than passive education.

How long it takes us each to begin securing real income from these workshops will of course be in direct relation to how much time and focus we each invest in these efforts. You alone will be determining in each case how to approach specific markets, although you will have a lot of help in that regard. So you could market inexpensive CD's in your area, or take a more profitable approach and design either portal scenes to license or server packages to market worldwide, the choice is entirely yours. One thing is certain though, there are ways to make a very good income with 3D Immersive Scene Design, and some of them could be genuinely lucrative.

2) Outreach Event Design and Implementation

In addition to identifying and approaching specific markets for income with our individual designs, we will also be "testing the waters" by designing scenes together which will be specifically targeted in their design to attract entirely new markets to shared space and trueSpace investment.

This will entail identifying markets which we decide would be "fun to approach," and designing both Introductory Imersive truePlay CD's and Temporary Portal Scenes together where we will hold occasional events designed to impress them with the potentials of shared space, and invite them to these events directly through the dissemination of Immersive CD's and/or downloadable Immersive truePlay Scenes.

This approach could of course lead to related income in several ways, but the primary distinction between these "outreach" approaches and the "marketing" approaches discussed above will be that these "outreach" approaches will just be more of "a fun thing to try together," more of a "shot in the dark" than a meticulously designed and focused business approach.

3) Shared Space Development Workshop

We all benefit from advancements in shared space, especially those of us with an eye toward profiting from it directly. In the course of the months ahead we will be encountering entirely new ways together to develop shared space and we will be sharing them openly as always.

The genuinely tremendous talent and innovation of the Caligari Community will always be introducing new and more wonderful capabilities and activities to shared space settings in the years ahead. In the Shared Space Development Workshop we will be constantly watching for and discussing together new ways in which we may adopt and adapt new scripting developments for shared space application and innovation. There will be no focus here on income at all, rather this particular aspect of the Sunday meetings will be focused on how we can immediately utilize new script developments in shared spaces for the benefit of everyone.

--------------------------------------

This has been a tremendous year for us all here in the Caligari Community and the coming year is already showing very clear signs of being exponentially better for us all than this year was. Hopefully this new initiative here may in time prove to be something very advantageous for each of us, and toward that end let's give it a go together and see where we can take it in 2008.

See you Sundays,

Moving forward:

In spite of the technical issues which disrupted our first Developers Outreach meeting together last week, we did have a great turnout from both sides of the Atlantic and we did manage to have several very exciting spontaneous collaborative discussions together there in relation to many of the specific focus areas of this new Developers Outreach Sunday workshop format.

Among the many things we all discussed there in depth together were quite a few entirely new markets which we would like to approach together and individually both for our own Commercial purposes and for those of Caligari.

I was absolutely delighted to see the collaborative energies of everyone present so creatively focused together on the many aspects of immersive design marketing, both at the local level and especially at the global level, where in fact most of us seem to have been entirely focused, and from what I gathered there several of us have been for quite some time.

We discussed marketing CD's containing immersive scenes both locally and worldwide.

We discussed marketing trueServe worldwide. Going very deep into that discussion as to exactly why it makes very good sense for specific types of investors to invest in trueServe, how affordable it actually is for them taking all things into consideration including Server hardware, T-Lines and the trueServe Lease itself, and how they can be specifically (and rather easily) approached on it all, as well as several of the factors involved in actually closing relatively "high-dollar" contract sales for "intangibles" such as these.

We discussed marketing portal scene licenses worldwide. As mentioned in many places in this forum, very soon now Caligari will be offering individual multi-user online portals for lease. When that day arrives many of us will already have poised ourselves through these Sunday workshops to capitalize on that by offering our own licensed immersive scene designs to non-Caligari Customers worldwide who will most definitely be interested in leasing portals as a prelude to trueServe investment.

We discussed Outreach Event Design and Implementation, working together to design specifically market-targeted immersive scenes on CD to be sent to many types of specific markets along with an invitation to attend a special event which we would hold together for them in their honor within a multi-user online (temporary) truePlace portal.

We discussed the creation of our new Shared Space Devlopment Workshop, where a great many new innovative scripting developments attained in 2007 can be utilized by us in teams applying them in new ways to both existing and future truePlaces to provide a richer and more meaningful set of activities and experiences for all truePlace users.

The most exciting part of all this discussion was clearly our mutual fascination with introducing Caligari Immersive Technologies for the very first time to very specific global markets who are currently utterly unaware of the many practical benefits which they would certainly derive from exploring and investing in shared space.

The focused creative imaginations in that room together were awesome to behold in that collaborative discussion alone... I knew it would happen at these new meetings and knew it would be great, but even so I was truly astonished at just how great it actually was. I am absolutely certain now that we will all truly find and pursue a great many specific and marvelous opportunities together with this new Sunday collaborative workshop format.

We are definitely ready for it, I thought so but you certainly proved it to me beyond any doubt whatsoever. This will be great fun and incredibly beneficial for us all in the year ahead, and like quite a few of us there last Sunday I too can't wait to start making these ideas firm and profitable realities for us all.

Thanks for coming last Sunday folks, I'll be looking forward a great deal to this coming Sunday, seeing you each again and exploring this all in even greater depth together. It's truly a bright future we all share here in this Community, and together we are clearly about to make it even brighter.

Thats a long list of things to talk about !

The sound system should be ready for that !

I tell you I have Vista and I had nothing on my headset ( apart from

a deep knock each time a message came down.)

Mark when you talk to the Caligari staff about the crash

could you please sort the sound problem out too !

Its realy high time that works. We should not start and look over

that and accept it......

I´m looking foreward to the next meeting !

Well that's what happens with technology. Even my computer gets frozen sometimes, for no good reason that I am aware of. It just goes catatonic on me, and a reboot is required. Sometimes objects get 'confused' and don't know they've been deleted... much like taxes and ex-spouses... they keep coming back to haunt you. :D

Rayman,

It's a known issue that the current sound doesn't work with Vista - it will either not work at best, or cause a crash if enabled at worst. This will naturally be resolved in the next update to voice :)

HTH!

RAYMAN, I plan to try this, because like you; I feel like I am missing out in these meetings...So by the New year you all should be able to hear my Voice...lol. i BET YOU ALL CAN'T WAIT...LOL. I am kidding , some of that bad Texas humor. I plan over the next two weeks to buy an eSATA External hard-drive, throw XP windows on it and make my machine Duel Boot. So then I can throw TrueSpace on it and be able to hear you guys in these meetings...hooowooo! That way I can switch between Vista and XP. So if anyone else who uses Vista and would like to do this.. let me know, it's pretty straight forward.... I should have done this when I built my system...lol...hine sight being 20 20...lol.

Anyway,

Happy Holidays, see you all next year!!!!

Regards,

Scala3D

Hi Scala. I believe MarkO made the music box, per butter's requirements. She created the music she wants for it; I scripted it and passed to her for project-approval, so to speak. So that's the collaboration aspect! Pretty cool when you can work on a team together and make stuff like this!

Oh hey, not a problem Scala! If you want to get your feet wet with scripting, please feel free to download the music box and take a look under the hood! Play with it, make some changes, make some of the other parts move, etc. and please repost if you want.

On Sunday I wasn't doing much typing but Tuesday I was. Hopefully my text-interpretation of Norm's voice made sense. It wil be good to have decent voice for Vista. Heck, for XP too! The voice is usually good, but sometimes you hear this, hizz-pop spittle bizzz zing type thing. We're makin progress!

I'm working on an even shorter one (I'll be able to get started on Saturday) that can loop and be small enough for shared spaces.

but for yourself, you can use the longer ones if you like - have fun! ^_^

One thing about the approach of a new year, it does tend to give us all a keener sense of the uncertainties of life, fleeting glimpses of potentials before us all with vaguely discernable features. We consider them or ignore them, embrace them or fear them, regardless, they approach with the time.

Not so long ago at all, each of us here being children of a former Century also witnessed the New Year celebrations which accompanied the turn of this new Century, in the flow of which we have since come to find our own places. Like every new year, only more so, a sense of awe perhaps mingled in the mix with that particular occasion as many of us considered our own places in time a bit more than we otherwise would.

Before us now lies yet another year, another infinite spectrum of choices and consequences, opportunities and hardships, blessings and difficulties, and again we must each find our own places, define our own lives.

For those of us here in the Caligari Community, however, this coming year truly holds far greater genuine promise for each of us than any year before it. We stand together before it like soldiers arrayed for victory, empowered with tremendous and growing capabilities, the future is ours for the taking.

We stand at a pivotal juncture now. Many of us have now chosen to resolutely press forward together by defining and seizing business opportunities worldwide in this coming year and beyond, opportunities for us each to derive significant financial reward from these new capabilities we alone posess.

As we already discovered in our brief assessment last Sunday together, before us in 2008 truly unprecedented business opportunities appear at virtually every glance, just waiting for us to approach them, and we are each ready now to press into them and make them our own.

These next two Sundays fall just prior to Holidays, and as such will be Sundays where our meetings will be comprised largely of open discussion and collaborative thought. As we press into January, however, it is my intention with these workshop meetings to focus rapidly on specific markets which we will certainly be approaching directly and immediately together. So we have two very casual meetings left now as we begin this new Sunday Developers Outreach approach together. So if you are reading this and have not attended our first meeting which was very exciting indeed, you have a couple of more opportunities to still get in here on the groundfloor of this new collaborative marketing endeavor, opportunities which you really shouldn't miss.

Come January we will be pressing forward together in several new marketing directions simultaneously, a few we have already defined together, others we will determine in these next two December Sunday meetings. The markets we have already chosen together to approach represent very significant income potential for each of us, they are global markets which 10 thousand of us at once could not begin to saturate, so there is more than enough room for everyone here to very easily find your own place in all these opportunities already, and we have only begun.;)

Great people, great times, and a truly great year before us. I'll see you all this Sunday.

Drive safe folks, and Happy Holidays!

If you get a chance tonight folks, set a note pad nearby somewhere and jot down any markets which you have a particular interest in or curiousity in relation to. Then at the Sunday meeting we can all discuss them together.

During these next two meetings I will be keeping notes on these markets and the level of interest in each which folks seem to have at the meetings, then in January we will be focusing on immediately approaching them in several different ways together.:)

See you Sunday.

This morning just for kicks I decided that before the meeting later today here I'd run a few Google searches with keywords related to common characteristics of various entities likely to be candidates for shared space investment.

At first I made a list of about thirty related keywords, but after running just the first search I decided to stop.... I had already located over 25 international organizations currently active in virtual world investment and development... every one of which would benefit enormously from investment in Caligari shared space more than they currently do in less powerful virtual settings which they already invest in.

There are simply endless opportunities before us all right now in designing and marketing immersive scripted environments worldwide, whether for online multi-user markets or offline single-user markets. It won't be hard to find investors in these new Caligari Immersive Technologies, there is already a truly vast and very rapidly growing global variety of them out there actively involved in virtual world investments and development right now who will be tremendously excited by what we can now do for them, and every single one of them will be very attracted to this potential the minute they discover it.

Today's meeting will be a fun one for sure, lots to discuss and a future becoming more exciting every single day for every one of us here.

See you in the Scriptorium (tpportal 1212) at 12:00PM PST today, and if the server decides to crash on us we will meet immediately afterward on a different server at tsportal 1111 via trueSpace7.51 or the trueSpace7.5 Demo (that backup server doesn't allow truePlay access).

See you all there!

It's the "tpportal" Rich, not the tsportal. The 1212 address is correct though. I just logged off but there were still some in there when I left.

To change it you have to back up in the LE all the way to the "System" level. Then go into the "Network" node. There is a node there called NetProperties. That's where you can change portals.

Oh heck... sorry you missed the meeting guy. We just had a good long talk about stuff this time though but would have been happy to have you there.

Next Sunday will be more of the same though so hopefully you can manage to make that meeting. The good stuff we all talked about together will re-appear then anyway you can be sure.

Have a safe Holiday time in the meantime and I hope to see you there!

I don't get any connection at all, neither truespace nor trueplay. I enter name and password, login window flashes short and then returns to login window again.

Remember is checked and greyd out, so that I can't delete it

trying different portals or port changings inside the NetProperties node doesn't help either

Active gets checked in my Login-name node which is created first time I click on Logon (in case I deleted it and didn't keep the old one)

my firewall doesn't show up with anything that would give a hint that something want's to connect to anything

there is no error message appearing from trueSpace or truePlay

Really would have liked to join, but slowly I'm getting tired of this:mad:

let's do this...

open the LE, got to Network view, go inside.

Tell me if you see a node for your login name.
If so, tell me the server address, and port.

I am currently at:

serveraddr: tsportal.caligari.com
port: 1111

My 'active' box is checked.

Also check the NetProperties node and tell me what you see.
I have: defserver: tpportal.caligari.com
defserverport: 1212
