I would be very happy if I finally would get back to space, it did work once , but got lost a few months ago after something with the portals/ports and truePlay version changed.
My problem is that I don't get any bit of info which could lead me on a track to locate the problem |

hm.... perhaps if you are on beta team, make sure you did not accidentally install a network dll for a beta version in your 7.51 directory?
Could you download trueplay and reinstall?
hang on a sec... maybe we could check the version of your dll? timestamp/filesize in the 7.51 directory?
hang on... |

Yes, firewall is what I've also been thinking of, got Symantec, no entries in any of the log files.
It did work a few months ago:confused:
OK, 53 minutes past midnight, time to go, thanks again for your support:) |

Just wanted to chip in on last nights discussion. Mark (3DVD) gave a very well presented talk on how to expand the TruePlace environment for commercial interests for businesses. He directed us to sites who were already involved in 3D shared space environments, showing that there is already a market for these worlds (I didn't think there was, beyond social chat rooms and the likes).
Mark then proposed areas in which TruePlace could be expanded into such as commercial areas and soon all the folks there were tossing around ideas and concepts, all of which sounded viable and superb to me. I was a bit more off the rails thinking along the lines of games (hey, I'm a games developers, my mind works that way), but more viable areas were in the area of prototyping, advertising, and medical research.
I stayed for an hour but then had to go so don't know where the discussion went after that point, but from what I saw while there, it was very impressive stuff indeed. The whole concept certainly got my mind racing with ideas for TruePlace, more along the lines of the stuff I have on my website, games and the like, but it was very interesting.
I really do see potential in what Mark and the others were proposing and I hope these projects do get off the ground. The next time there's a meeting, if you have an interest in this area, do attend. |

Hi Emma,
sorry to hear you are having all these difficulties. I enjoyed your participation in earlier discussions and hope we can help you solve this access problem fast.
One thing, I see above you said you have re-installed truePlay 1.42 a few times. That may be the problem in some way, since that has not been publicly released... the public release is only up to version 1.3 of truePlay at the moment I believe, and that's the version I use in existing truePlaces on the tpportal server.
Perhaps downloading the public version of truePlay1.3 and installing it will correct the access anomalys entirely. It seems to me anyway that since you are the only person to have reported this that it may be simply due to the server refusing to recognise a beta version of truePlay. Note that once truePlay1.3 is installed there is a known issue with that version at the moment being unable to access the truePlay tpportal 1109 which is hard coded in C++ and used as the default gateway for that version... apparently the server URL changed since that release. TruePlay1.3 still does work perfectly in every other regard though, and can still be used to directly access the current truePlaces by clicking on the various "truePlay" links on the "Birds Of A Feather" page at the Caligari website here: http://www.caligari.com/BirdsOfAFeather.asp?SubCate=S2BOAF
Hope that helps, I do enjoy your participation in our meetings a great deal.

Thanks Paul, I was very happy to see you show up Sunday and take such an active part with us in all these discussions.
Unfortunately due to my mic cutting out it was very difficult for me to adequately address the many excellent simultaneous suggestions from everyone properly in rapidly scrolling text chat but they were each very exciting and each most definitely do remain worthy of lengthly consideration.
While gaming is not my strong suit there are others among us who like yourself see ways in which to incorporate various types of gaming into existing truePlaces, future truePlaces, future personal portals, and immersive CD's... all of which can additionally be used to enhance existing web presence for Webmasters, and of course be developed to generate income worldwide.
Dele, for instance, has some gaming experience and some game design experience, as does Butterpaw, both of whom attend these meetings and would have much more direct insight than I into these things. So even though my focus at these meetings to date has been more aimed at shedding light on other aspects of design and marketing than gaming incorporation, nevertheless these meetings will always encourage diversity and foster team approaches to helping one another develop our related skills as well as assisting one another at every level of related marketing if desired.
Your "prototype" suggestions are very valid and promising ones which I definitely agree with and do in fact intend to pursue myself. Gaming aspects are likely to become vital in many of these endeavors as well, and there is already no shortage of experienced and talented folk among us here able to assist you in these directions as well.
The fact that you are a Webmaster currently is also something I believe we can develop together in these future workshops. I will certainly be looking for ways to enhance Webmaster web presence through the utilization of Caligari Immersive Technologies at every level, from Immersive truePlay CD design and dissemination or marketing to custom portal integration in web presence and beyond to immersive server design and web integration.
There are unlimited directions we can go in this together all of us, each with significant potential for return on our time and energies invested. In fact there are so very many directions and levels of potential involvement in each that I must remain focused more and more in these meetings on my Meeting objectives of defining very practical and immediately obtainable projects among all these great choices.
Every one of us at these meetings will nevertheless undoubtedly pursue projects of our own aside and apart from those we pursue together in these specific workshops, so no matter what anyone's particular personally desired direction in all this is, they will hopefully, if I succeed in this, find that these team workshops not only enable us to sharpen our individual skills together through actual market-targeted design and market involvement, they will also find that the related experience at every level should propel them to far greater independent immersive design and marketing strength, as well as open doors to the genuine independent attainment of far greater personal income, in markets which are global and growing.
The world before us is ours for the taking, and I'm very glad to see the many great folks such as yourself joining us in all this. Forging ahead together, 2008 will be a most exciting year for us each.
