Hi Folks.

I have a scene with a glass object in it and a light sourse set to cast shadows. All is well except that the shadows from the light source are solid dark shadows, the light passing through the glass is not picking up the colour and refractions of the glass. I am rendering with Ray Tracing turned on which is PAINFULLY SLOW (would really love to have VRay for this scene), but still getting solid dark shadows. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to create a realistice effect of the light passing through the glass?

I'm at work so cannot give you screen shots, hope this helps:

Click on your light source

this will bring up the object panel

click on the shadow icon to turn shadows on.

now right-click on the shadow panel, and you can select "transparent shadows" for the shadow type.

This is in the model side, which I'm most comfortable with.

Thanks, Kena. I'll give that a try later tonight and see if I get the results I want. Appreciate the advice.

also make sure the shadow type is 'ray tracing' as well as raycast being set in the render engine
