Remy got back to me and all was sorted and I downloaded VRay. I was out today so didn't have a lot of time to try it out but I did test one scene in particular with it...
A recent scene I did which has glass in it, I rendered it initially using the normal renderer in TrueSpace 7.51. Thanks to the glass the scene took 45 minutes to render. Yes, painful indeed and the very reason why I avoid using glass and transparancies in my work, particulary my animations.
So I loaded up the scene and hit the VRay render button...
It was cool to watch all the little blocks rendering but the real COOL was about to hit...
VRay finished, the scene was rendered, slightly different looking from the original one done with TrueSpace's normal renderer (I have to explore the settings for VRay and see what they all do), but I sat there with my jaw hanging open... Why? That 45 minute render that TrueSpace did... VRay did it in under five minutes! I was floored!!!
So now the learning and exploring and test renders begin as I find my way though VRay. If for nothing else, the speed improvement VRay has to offer is worth every cent I paid for it...
Just one question, is there any help file, user manual, or the likes to explain the in's and out's of VRay? I'm sure I'll figure it all out (and if not, you lot are here to bounce my problems off! LOL!), but if there's any documentation I can view, that would be great. |

Thanks, Kena, that's exactly what I'm after, a beginners guide. |

Paul, after my VRay install I found a file named VRay.pdf in the trueSpace root directory - its a really good VRay reference. |

And I was looking under PDFMan. Incredible.
Thanks for the tip

P.S. Why are suddenly virtualight and lightworks accessible in workspace view after installing/buying VRay and not before ? |

Lightworks and Virtualight are not accessible in workspace, either before or after installing V-Ray. V-Ray is the only engine that will render direct from workspace at this time.

In an upcoming release, they will be available for rendering in Workspace
Workspace will completely replace the Model view eventually. They just need to write the Programming for it. In the mean time, to keep full functionality, they have kept the 6.6 version as the Model space. |

You can choose which render engine to use - but the only one that will render in workspace is V-Ray. The others will require you to head over to Model side to render.
So there's no accessibility to the render engines, just to the rendering options (of which render engine selection is one). Could be that if you don't have V-Ray intsalled then you can't open the render options (since you have nothing to render with on workspace). With it installed you can open render options, and there the choice of engine is indeed a render option. But again, there is no actual access to them in workspace, you can't render using them.

Aha if you can't convince them confuse them ;)
Thanks for taking the time to explain.
