Sunday January 6th - Developers Outreach

Complete links and directions to the meetings along with a general description of what the Developers Outreach is all about may be found in the post following this one.

About this upcoming January 13th Sunday meeting:

Hi everyone,

This coming Sunday we will be having our fifth "Developers Outreach" weekly Sunday meeting and workshop together, and we have already come a long way together very rapidly.

We have selected our five initial target-markets worldwide, and in fact have already secured the direct attention of very interested and very capable potential investors. The future for our endeavor here is already looking extremely bright, and you can expect that to improve steadily in 2008.

There are two things I wish to accomplish in the first half of our meeting this coming Sunday, I wish to very thoroughly explain a couple of things which I only touched upon too briefly in our past meetings.

First, I will be explaining why other existing "Online Virtual Worlds" such as SecondLife, ActiveWorlds, and Entropia Universe are not genuine competitors to trueServe from the viewpoint of potential investors. They are in fact entirely different investment models than what we offer, and in nearly every case, from the viewpoint of an investor, trueServe offers extremely significant advantages which these other models simply cannot offer and never will, advantages we intend to very clearly focus on in 2008.

From the perspective of a User, there are very distinct advantages and disadvantages at the moment to participating in each of these Online Virtual World models, and we will of course focus on these throughout the year as well from the viewpoint of development.

From the perspective of a potential Investor, however, the advantages to a trueServe investment as opposed to one in any one of these other Online Virtual Worlds makes it clear under close analysis that trueServe offers far more control over every feature of their investment, especially the return on that investment, which sets it utterly apart from these other models which in fact are not competitors at all accordingly, as I intend to fully clarify this Sunday.

Secondly, I will again be going over the many "ROI" models possible within a trueServe investment which are clearly impossible within these other investment scenarios, only this time we will be going over this far more extensively together. It should be clear to all when this segment is concluded Sunday how to very easily assist a potential investor to readily see how they can realistically and conservatively achieve a 200 to 600 percent return on their investment in one year through trueServe, something none of these other models can even begin to offer them without a truly enormous investment and a directly-related enormous and unnecessary risk on that same investment. These are risks not present in a trueServe investment at all, where unlike every single one of these other venues the investor alone determines all the particulars of the business model they wish to pursue through the utilization of a trueServe Virtual World down to the very last detail. Once that is clear, you will see why we have no real competition whatsoever from the viewpoint of a great many global business investors.

Afterward, if time allows this Sunday, and I do hope that it will, now that these five initial target-markets have already been discussed and chosen we will be moving on together to discuss the initial prototype designs pertaining to each in greater detail, select the roles within each we wish to take on, and start on the preliminary design of each initial prototype together.

In many cases approaching specific new markets and projects can be a somewhat sensitive topic in general, so I would like to ask eveyone participating in these Sunday Developers Outreach meetings and workshops to please refrain as much as possible from openly discussing specific Target-Markets and related Projects here in the forums (at least until those of us in a given Market-Targeted Team have an opportunity to decide that the time may be right to do so). Thank you all in advance for your discretion in this regard. We will be all about business together here for sure, but the specifics of our business together for the sake of Caligari, our investors, and ourselves, will often remain our business alone.

We will also be conducting ongoing projects together throughout the year which have nothing whatsoever to do with business and focus only on improving the experience of all who use truePlaces and (soon hopefully) our own personal portals when Caligari makes them available to us to rent. We will also of course be assisting one another in every way possible throughout the year to develop our immersive scene design skills as well.

We are also now looking into various ways to provide independent simultanous voice communication for these live meetings with an eye toward the establishment of simultaneous multi-user live voice discussions which do not conflict with each other at all, so that those who wish to discuss one particular matter within a small group or focus together on a project at hand may do so without having any effect whatsoever on others in the room engaged in different activities or classes.

So we are already off to a very good start together in 2008, and it looks like it's only going to get better for us all as we go, aside from it all being a lot of fun and profitable! Thanks everyone for joining in this... you're a really great and very talented group, and it's a pleasure to be working together with you all in this.

See you again on Sunday!

About all Developers Outreach meetings:

"Developers Outreach" is an extremely active new "Community workshop," focusing very specifically on the following things:

1) 3D Immersive Scene Design and Marketing

Developing our individual skills together (both individually and in focused voluntary teams) in the specific direction of designing immersive scenes for direct personal income. In this part of the workshop we will be examining and developing 3D Immersive Scenes for actual sale, lease, and licensing, worldwide.

There are numerous ways to secure an income through 3D Immersive Scene Design both offline and online (shared space portal packages, shared space server packages, Immersive truePlay CD's, etcetera) and we will be discussing them all together. Beyond that, in each case we will also actually be "going for it," both individually and in teams, the objective at these workshops being actual income rather than passive education.

How long it takes us each to begin securing real income from these workshops will of course be in direct relation to how much time and focus we each invest in these efforts. You alone will be determining in each case how to approach specific markets, although you will have a lot of help in that regard. So you could market inexpensive CD's in your area, or take a more profitable approach and design either portal scenes to license or server packages to market worldwide, the choice is entirely yours. One thing is certain though, there are ways to make a very good income with 3D Immersive Scene Design, and some of them could be genuinely lucrative.

2) Outreach Event Design and Implementation

In addition to identifying and approaching specific markets for income with our individual designs, we will also be "testing the waters" by designing scenes together which will be specifically targeted in their design to attract entirely new markets to shared space and trueSpace investment.

This will entail identifying markets which we decide would be "fun to approach," and designing both Introductory Imersive truePlay CD's and Temporary Portal Scenes together where we will hold occasional events designed to impress them with the potentials of shared space, and invite them to these events directly through the dissemination of Immersive CD's and/or downloadable Immersive truePlay Scenes.

This approach could of course lead to related income in several ways, but the primary distinction between these "outreach" approaches and the "marketing" approaches discussed above will be that these "outreach" approaches will just be more of "a fun thing to try together," more of a "shot in the dark" than a meticulously designed and focused business approach.

3) Shared Space Development Workshop

We all benefit from advancements in shared space, especially those of us with an eye toward profiting from it directly. In the course of the months ahead we will be encountering entirely new ways together to develop shared space and we will be sharing them openly as always.

The genuinely tremendous talent and innovation of the Caligari Community will always be introducing new and more wonderful capabilities and activities to shared space settings in the years ahead.

In the Shared Space Development Workshop we will be constantly watching for and discussing together new ways in which we may adopt and adapt new scripting developments for shared space application and innovation. There will be no focus here on income at all, rather this particular aspect of the Sunday meetings will be focused on how we can immediately utilize new script developments in shared spaces for the benefit of everyone.

Directions to the Developers Outreach meetings:

These meetings are held weekly on Sundays starting at 12:00PM PST (on the Caligari Clock: http://www.caligari.com/CaligariClock.asp (http://www.caligari.com/CaligariClock.asp) ) but if you can't make it at the start time drop in anytime afterward, they are always very interesting meetings with very lively open discussions.

Initially we will utilize the Scriptorium Portal in truePlace for these meetings, (tpportal.caligari.com / portal 1212) but that will hopefully change very soon as we get underway together in this.

I would like to secure a dedicated portal for this effort on the truePlace server to enable us to work in several development teams on simultaneous projects in the coming year all week long in addition to our weekly meeting being held on the same portal on Sundays. Additionally, having a dedicated portal for these workshops would enable us to readily use it for numerous Temporary Marketing Outreach Events throughout 2008, where we intend to invite new markets to come experience shared space for the very first time through truePlay, with an eye toward their investment.

In the unlikely event of a server crash during any of our meetings we have designated the trueSpace server (tsportal.caligari.com) Meetingroom (portal 1111) as an alternate but since this alternate server is a trueSpace-only server, folks using truePlay to access the meeting in the event of a server crash will not be capable of logging in there with truePlay, they must use the trueSpace7.5Demo or trueSpace7.xx directly.

It is recommended to come to these meetings with XP rather than Vista due to the current (and no doubt temporary) issues with Vista audio in shared spaces, and it is also recommended to come with either trueSpace or the trueSpace Demo rather than truePlay in case of a server crash in which event truePlay will be unable to access our trueSpace-only backup server portal where we would immediately re-convene our meeting.

truePlay Users Only:

If you do come with truePlay1.3 you can access the Scriptorium portal in truePlace by going to post #4 in the following thread and downloading the scene I have provided there which follows the images in that post. That scene can then be unzipped and loaded into truePlay1.3 via "file" and "load" and once loaded you may enter it in First Person Navigation and simply click on the Green Book in that scene which will open a new truePlay window and take you right to the Scriptorium. http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=4459 (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=4459)

trueSpace Users Only:

If you are using either trueSpace or the trueSpace Demo, you can load the RsScn file I have provided in this post here instead... the easel on the left when clicked will harmlessly reset your trueSpace Network destination to the Scriptorium Server and Portal (the primary location for our meeting today), and the easel on the right will harmlessly reset your trueSpace Network destination to the TrueSpace-only Server's Meetingroom portal (the secondary location we will use as a backup room in case of a server crash at the Scriptorium Server).

In both cases a new Login dialog window will pop up where you enter your username and password as always and hit the "Login" button to join us.

Of course if you are already familiar with how to reset your Network destinations manually you can simply do that instead... this is just the "lazy man's approach" to get there... your choice.

Manual Network Settings:

Scriptorium Address = tpportal.caligari.com / port# 1212
BackupServer Address = tsportal.caligari.com / port# 1111

Lazy Man's Approach:

(the scene file to use follows the image below)

Hey Mark

Something I thought of that Trueplaces might have over other online worlds is the ability to upgrade more easily. Something like second life seems heavily reliant on current technology and for them to upgrade when the technologies advance might be very difficult considering all the time people have put into their virtual world. It seems with truespace you would be able to move ahead and have the backwards compatibility needed to not lose the time you invested. And since the user has the option not to upgrade to the newest technology, they can use an older version of trueplay with their world if they wish, they won't lose their worlds when technology advances. I would imagine to be part of second life you are dependent what they can support on their servers at any given time. So it just seems to me trueplace is more adaptable to technological advances. I hope that makes sense, just a thought I had. I am no expert on second life by any means, I have only visited a few times and frankly found it very weird. Maybe something to think about.

Good point 3dfrog!!! And Mark, course hats off to you for leading us to a bright future. My Apologies on the TeamSpeak server test. I finally found a sound driver that will work with Vista now the Client side of TeamSpeak sees that I have a voice activated headset microphone and I will be getting a new headset so as you guys log on to the TeamSpeak server I can be there to say "Well done young padawan and may the force be with you"...lol. Sorry bad joke...anyway. I will have the TeamSpeak server up and running for sure Saturday night and I will be on-line an hour before our Sunday meeting to help check to see if people can get on the TeamSpeak server. I have been using your forum login name like i.e. (Scala3D, notejam, Dele) and a password. So let me know if you want your forum name to be added to the TeamSpeak_TrueSpace_Test server before Sunday's meeting and I will be glade to add you and send you an IM with the password.

See you guys on Sunday....:D

Hi folks. I just wanted to post a couple notes for this meeting as well as forthcoming ones.

Since this is more or less a business-related meeting, we should consider conducting it as such.

Here's a couple simple tips in order to help the meeting move along smoothly and productively:

1. Have a bullet-point agenda prepared and posted in advance. Each bullet point is a one or two sentence statement describing the discussion item. This is what Mark has presented in the first post here; please read it carefully.

2. Each person attending should have a wordpad or notepad application open during the meeting for typing their questions as the meeting progresses

3. If there is one person presenting, please avoid cross conversations during their presentation, both in text and on voice. If you think of a question, type it in your wordpad / notepad application. A q & a session should be part of the agenda, listed after the main presentation. Any questions which may require an extensive discussion should be earmarked for a separate meeting.

These tips will alleviate confusion in the main discussion, as well as help us complete the agenda for the meeting.

Well spoken or well typed Frootee I should say....Well the TeamSpeak TrueSpace Test server is running now. So if you would like to try it send me an IM before Sunday and I will register you. Also Mark TeamSpeak client does allow you to record the channel session. That is how I knew I needed a new microphone, and now I can record a message and hear my voice when I play the "wav" file back. So for you guys who are like me and have VISTA, we can now talk with Teamspeak. I will leave it up to the powers that be..i.e. (Mark) if we want to use this server for the next Developers Outreach team meeting on Sunday.

Thanks guys! This coming Sunday meet will be really exciting, just watch!:D

I've been massively busy on several good things for all this but can't elaborate at the moment aside from telling you all that things are definitely getting much better very fast for us all as you will soon see over the next two meetings.;)

This TeamSpeak stuff is a fantastic idea here Steve and will be vital to our meeting objectives of multi-tasking effectively in many ways. Thanks for your leadership and dedication to helping us all with that Steve, it will make a very huge difference to all of us right away and will be great! I did download the TeamSpeak Client install so go ahead and hook me up with a password in my PM (by the way you often mention in your related posts that you will "IM" people but lots of folks here don't have "Instant Messaging" installed and may not realize that you mean you will "PM" (for Private Messaging) them here at the forums when you say you will "IM" them).

This will be fantastic for our needs every Sunday and will probably get used all the time throughout the week by a lot of us too at other meetings assuming the server can be up that often, but if not we will at least know whether this TeamSpeak method will suit all our needs and if so we can hopefully arrange a fulltime TeamSpeak Host server to host it soon as well.:)

Great things are happening now and the timing of all this is perfect.:)

Thanks guys, see ya Sunday!

-Mark

Hi folks,

After today's testing with several folks in shared space it looks like TeamSpeak may be a "no go" for this Sunday. That's too bad too, would have made a lot more accomplishable much more rapidly. It seems there are issues with the server settings and possible user settings as well. We may have that sorted out by the 20th but will look into alternatives too in the meantime.

In any case that will mean on the 13th we will have to try a bit harder to stay on topic until we have pretty much exhausted each topic, but we do need to do that with the first two topics, they are very important for us all to be on the same page with. They will be the advantages of trueServe over all other existing Online Virtual Worlds, and the many possible R.O.I. (return on investment) models available to trueServe Investors which make it so very unique as an investment vehicle that it actually has no genuine existing competitors whatsoever.

In these two discussions you will see ways for Investors to make a great deal of money rapidly with trueServe versus other virtual investments (while still offering free access to all of their new users) and be able to show potential investors how to do that conservatively and very easily.

We'll also be examining our 5 chosen market projects more closely and determining more clearly which ones each of us wish to develop together right away.:)

See you there folks!
