LOLZ! You posted it Jeff, so you get credit for sharing :D (I had hoped you would.. been a busy day today) My friend Jesper shared it with me, and he found it at Digg ... so there you are ^_^

I must say I didn't have a chance to try it before heading for work.. so looking forward to trying it out tonight ;)

So has anyone tried this yet - does it play nicely with tS? What sort of files does it put out? - the website is strangely uninformative on that question

It puts out a .obj file

I used the Luuv plugin to import it, and it came up as a black trunk and white leaves. I then did a decompose on it and got a mess. Maybe I can use another program to decompose into something I can then use to give the leaves and trunk texture with. TS took 4 hours to decompose it for me. Let me know if anyone gets better results.

Thanks Kena - I'd love to have a good look at this sometime but I have so many projects on the go!

Did you try the 'paint over existing material' tool? Did you try it using tS 6.6 - I'm not sure that the LUUV plugin works quite as well in tS 7.x as it does in tS 6.x.

Aaargh! So many cool apps and so little time!

I tried it in 7.51, and did an end-task after 6 hours, yes - it was the 6.6 that took 4 hours. the Paint over existing material tool would not be feasible because I would get lost too easily.

The link editor would allow me to keep my place, but this is too complicated for my brain.

It decomposed at a press of a button instantly on my Vue 6 Inf.

4 hours is not normal !

Ok here is how it comes in in vue ... its green and browm - standard

and decomposes in a fraction of a second !

I made this wood of trees - red - green - yellow and blue in under 5

minutes ! so there is nothing wrong with Dryad !:)

Cheers Rayman - I can see I'll have to grab Dryad myself - I'm always looking for decent trees.

Heres a screen grab of a tS7.5 model side render of a Dryad tree I imported using LUUV. Textures were added using tS ME.

Dryad made the tree OK for me but the Open GL preview would not run on my machine - but then I've not updated my drivers and this graphics card is just over a year old now.

Anyway here's the pic for anyone interested.

I have used Dryad before, but I find it a bit of a problem to add leaf texture with alpha map into TS onto the leaf. So I now save from Dryad, first the trunk, and then the leaves as 2 separate objects, I can then add textures easier.

A quick render looks OK, but will have to add some roots to the tree trunk.
