Well Hi every one!

Being out to sea doesn't account for all my time away this time. I was out to sea during Nov and Dec but my real problems were ... well a picture says a 1000 words:
10761
(I'm not in the image as I am passed out on the floor!)

I stumbled across a little DOS utility NTFS reader that enabled me to recover some of my scenes and objects, AND registration key numbers from a severely corrupted hard drive. ($19 well spent!) I still have the characters I was working on back in Aug but the animations I had built are long gone.

My other reason for disappearance is similar to ProffesorKhaos's disappearance a couple of years ago. I became involved (still am) with creating content for a model train simulator - Rule the Rails! - and using tS to create the "X" format models for that software. I now find myself the admin and tutor for a forum dedicated to this purpose.

There may be some new members here in these forums as a result. Several of the members there have downloaded tS3.2 and upgraded to at least 6.6. I've encouraged them to post modeling questions here so I hope y'all have been nice to them. (I said you would be!;))

Anyway, I'll be doing some static scenes just to re-acquire my hand/mouse skills.

Paul

Hi Paul

Nice to see you back - not so nice to hear your news though!

Thanks Steven,

The silver lining: My system is running faster because all the junk is gone from the registry; After re-installing all the software I was using previous to the crash I now have about 75% free space on my internal hard drive. My best images are safely stored here in the forums and monthly galleries. I learned quite a LOT about New Technology File Structure (NTFS) and how to prevent (... well ...) such disasters in the future.

More importantly, because this system is also my navigation computer aboard ship, I reaffirmed my ability to navigate successfully using the "Old World" methods with paper, dividers, straight edge, a compass, a clock, and "intuitive fudging" ;)!!!

I see quite a lot has happened around here. A few more times out to sea and I'll be back to newbee status!

Paul
