Well, I have to stand up and apologize for how I reacted to the news of Microsoft 'acquiring' Caligari. My response was a mix of fear and blind panic and I took the lack of response to my emails as something personal that could only mean the worst... I suspect that many of you reacted the same way.

How wrong I was.

All it took was a short email from Roman to put my mind at rest. I cannot go into details as much of it was personal but suffice to say I am no longer worried about the future of tS. I don't know where it is going, and it has to change anyway if it is to become bigger and better than it is in a reasonable timeframe, but I am really not worried. Lots of other programs out there if it is not want I expect a few years down the line. I have my art and digital assets...I will be OK.

Many have lamented the lack of progress in tS over the years and this is the best shot in the arm it could get.

We have tS7.5, that can never be taken away from us and so much progress was made on 7.6 that there would be no reason not to release it.

Have a little faith and read no news as good news as there are other individuals/companies involved here that could be affected by false promises or the leaking of details that are not finalised. You think the Caligari NDA is strict, I can only imagine what the Microsoft one is like!!

I am no evangelist, I have no special treatment and I know no more than I did yesterday, But I know my reaction was wrong and I am returning to normal service; asking for new features, moaning about bugs, posting work and making bad jokes. If there is one good thing I can do as an ambassador, then hopefully this is it.

I am not telling you what to think but if you were poised to make some negative 'it's all over' type of comment, just learn from my mistakes and hold on a bit longer for some more news.

Oh, and I appreciate Roman's reply even more knowing how absolutely wiped out he is from lack of sleep this last week. Ever felt really washed out and had to go into work for a presentation? Not nice really.

New week next week...fresh start...:D

Thanks for your post.

However, I never felt comfortable with words of ambiguity.

Nothing personal and nothing against Roman, understanding the position he is in currently.

I'm just used to straight talk without ambiguous remarks.

All of this reminds me of a woman asking for a divorce from her husband. When the husband asked why, the woman said, "The last time you told me that you loved me was on our honeymoon night and that was twenty years ago."

This is a lot better.... I refused to acknowledge the last tread any longer as to it's less than possitive direction.

It will be nice to see where this is going... If possible maybe a home comming with ts8 for me ;)

PS Roman we all await some more informative news either here or from the MS end.

Paul in your case the last few days were not for nothing !

I would in the future visit more forums and use "more"

software then you are now.

I personaly love the Kerkythea forum and the Moi3d forum

because one can learn so many new things !

That helps for your life with Truespace too !

What ever happens to the future of TS you will be using 3d

so its not bad to try out new things ! Your first few steps

with Hexagon are not a bad move for the beginning !

Your a good artist .... its just a tool !:)

Well, I think he did, (probably as much as he was able while observing necessary NDA) but many chose to ignore it.

Edit: was in reply to Stem about Roman's taking time to reassure us. lot of posts intervened while I was posting, lol.

I have high hopes.. (although that's not my nature, it's my choice to have them) I succeed at making that choice a lot of the time... (more as I keep practising at it) :D

Thank you all for the kind words. I have done nothing amazing just bared my soul and spoke honestly and apologetically. World would be a much nicer place if everyone did that more.

In extra news pepe is to be the new mascot for Windows 7, apparently it is a pig to program...boom boom!! :D

As for Roman, I am 99% sure it is cannot speak rather than will not...:)

When I see the words "7.6 will continue" then I'll be a happy pup. That is what I was dreaming of owning.
It all sounds very nice and I'm sure we are all over reacting but we also have a lot of time and money in this program. We won't give it up without a fight!:D

I sat on the sidelines watching as usual the grieving process from lots of you. Was quite interesting to watch. :)

Hopefully others will calm their jets and just wait and see what happens.

Good to see some positivity creeping back in though.

Cheers

Splinters, I had the same reaction as you did at first and also later realized that this might be an OK thing. Maybe even a good thing.

I want to make a (positive) point here that I made in a post in the other thread. Our concerns are about what MS will do. Most of us, myself included, believe that Roman and the Caligari team mean well. That they are trying to do good things for TS and for us. I think it is important to let them know that.

I think a little news like that was all most of us was looking for, and coupled with the fact that caligari usually keeps the users well informed even if it's a 'things are going as usual, no solid news till release is imminent' type of response left us more than a little uneasy.

Nice to know the worry was in vain

If 7.6 does eventually come out, and I'm expected to pay for it...that's not going to happen...my personal belief is that 7.5 is "broken" and that this 0.1 upgrade should be to make it work properly. I was very unhappy with 7.5 and with the future of TS looking like it's going in a different direction than I'm interested in, I would never consider throwing good money after bad.

Well why shouldnt it !

I´m actually a strong believer that this was the best that could have happend to Caligari !

Trueplay only realy flies in windows and explorer enviroment as

standard !

And that helps sell Truespace too !;)
