Maybe if we all got together en mass & email Bill, he may let Roman have a few minutes off to give his loyal Truespace users an update on the current situation. If he (Bill) did, maybe we could offer to make him a Gold Ambassador?

I guess that is the only real negative of all of this Microsoft thing. It is quieter than before. Probably started during the final stages of closing the deal and seems to be continuing.
Hopefully it will get back to some normality where Truespace users are number one again soon.
Cheers

Mmmm, it is a bit quiet around here lately. I guess no news is good news but it wouldn't hurt to say something either way... |

Yes, the silence is terrible. Give's me no good feel. Strange days for a TS customer who have spent many money in the TS and his future. |

Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Cant you understand
Oh my little girl
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Lol sorry, for some reason this post reminds me of this song.
But Seriously, I dont think there is much to worry about, It isnt unusual for Roman not to post anything for so long, and so what?. It was nice we got regular updates but they have said that they will continue to upgrade TS so thats all that is important. Caligari users still have access to what I perceive as one of the best 3D modelling communities there is. As a Maya user I find it incredibly hard to get help on their official forums (luckily I have a tutor at university to help me). Im not saying by any means that caligari should stop the blog entries (we want more!) but im sure they are just busy and if anything this is a good thing for Caligari, merging certain parts of the company with Microsoft can only help to raise the rest of Caligari's profile = more users = more money = more updates etc. Or Microsoft will just buy out Caligari and then we get nothing lol (worst case) |

Agree with Matski 100% here. I've also used Maya and the grass is always greener on the other side until you get there. ;)
Buying into TrueSpace isn't just buying the software it's getting access to this very friendly and helpful user community. That's something really hard to put a value on. Consider that each Maya training course is something like $250 depending on what your buying. There's a lot of help here for free.
I've thus far not seen any reason to worry about the Microsoft buyout. If anything, like Matski mentioned, it means more resources. I for one am looking very much forward to 7.6 and to the 64 bit version of 8.0. |

That's good to know Splinters. Where exactly can we find this explanation?

Wonder no more! A new entry is now there and the morph system is making me drool in anticipation. Just wish we knew when we might have an opportunity to get our hands on it- ie. the 7.6 release. |

Thanks to the CEO for this Update. Now i feel me better. And ... satisfied to see progress not only in vertex animation (morphing). |

Morphing is fun!
At least what I've experienced in other programs and (sort of) doing it in 2D.
The advantage of morphing is that you can use existing models to do some trickery, with careful vertices manipulation. :)
jello, sort of cloth motion, water movement, trees swaying, body parts bouncing (re's Steinies latest Lotta entry) :D |

The image is small, but over on the right you can see... sliders :) Of course do bear in mind that this is an image from the beta version of the software and that UI is of course subject to change.
HTH!

Yeah but for really jiggly action you'd have to hook them kalookas up to some kind of sine() based oscillatory script. :p |

The right slider bars are customized by my self.. These are not Morph default panels..
There you can see a "disabled" slider that was another morph but as i create a breathing script that use 2 morphs and that's why i added a "disabled" title, to see what slider is unlinked..
Morphs are preaty cool, stable and easy to handle.. and the possibility to create custom UI is INCREDIBLE.. Im learning alot of scripts but im still a noob
I have something "Crazy" cofff. Coff.. not sorry.. "Cyan" under the NDA :( and i hope Caligari guys let me show to the community soon that be finished..
I know i miss a speed model challenge.. But i have alot of work to do.. In beta and personal projects...
Regards! :) |
