I have 3 questions:
Question number one - Why is there no 'Search' facility for the Caligari website?
Question number two - What happened to Pro-team?
Question number three - Where can I find out more information about 'Conversion Pack'?
I've been trying to find out what file formats the Conversion Pack supports - I'm assuming that it is a file import/export extension for trueSpace based on what I read from searching the forums.
Additionally I've been trying to find out how much a Pro team membership costs and what I would receive as a Pro-team member. The only link to a Pro-team related page I could find - at the bottom of the FAQ page - goes nowhere.
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this

Conversion Pack info is here:
http://www.caligari.com/Products/trueSpace/ts5/Plugins/Caligari/ConversionPack/cp21.asp?Cate=Caligari
The page details the formats - X format, DWG, IGES, SAT, Viewpoint 3D, STL, and Shockwave 3D.
HTH!

Cool - thanks Tom. I took a look but I can't see that I have any great need for those file formats at the moment so that question is nicely answered.
I'm still wondering though, what happened to Pro Team?:D |

I too want to know about what's up with ProTeam. In fact I am thoroughly fed up of the lack of news.
If you buy TS in the normal way, you get your product the moment you hand over the cash. You get what you paid for. That is fair.
If you buy ProTeam, you are paying for something in advance, in anticipation of what will come over the next year. While I accept that ProTeam is a service, i.e. access to updates, I am very concerned to know whether my hard earned cash is actually going to deliver anything? And yes I know about the courses - it's the TS versions that matter.
While I accept that all merger deals will require a lot of work to finalise, I consider the lack of announcements to be very disrespectful of existing customers.
There has been a lot of talk about having faith in the Caligari Team. I have had that faith and put my money where my mouth is by stumping up for ProTeam membership. All I want now is a bit of good faith back by telling us what on earth is going on.
Come on guys at Caligari, this lack of communication is grossly unfair. |

[QUOTE=W!ZARD;62546][FONT="Comic Sans MS"][COLOR="Purple"]I have 3 questions:
Question number one - Why is there no 'Search' facility for the Caligari website?
Question number two - What happened to Pro-team?
Question number three - Where can I find out more information about 'Conversion Pack'?
I'm one of the most frequent visitors in Forums although this is my first ever post. I have a track record of buying almost everything what has been possible from Caligari for trueSpace - including ProTeam membership. I am not one of the great users of the program but I saw that this is something to let grow - as was noticed by MS recently.
My ProTeam purchases do not allow me to download any purchased items, which I still believe belonging to me as I have paid for that (despite that the membership was only to february 2008).
Norppa (my user name) is a very small seal found only in the Lake Saimaa in Finland which by the way is my home land even I'm writing this in Dortmund, Germany. It is one of the rare species and some less than 300 are still existing globally. Our community is as rare and does not survive without some good care.
This is a quote from Captain Roman, to whom I have a great respect:
"I am starting this blog to keep you guys updated regularly"
I hope that this is true as I know from my experience how important it is to give the right signals for a companys employees after a take over. This is really my field as I work for the steel industry (please don't ask what are we steeling?) where I am involved in buying companies. I have collected great experiences also from Kosice in Slovakia during which time I first heard of Roman (and he certainly will recognize the town).
Roman could kindly express a wor or two for us to know that he is still there and I hope that you Roman will see this as well.
All the best what is available for this community and tS

Speculation on my part but I bet any future sales for Pro Team was nixed. Why? Because it includes free updates to software as it becomes available. With another Company in the picture that will probably not be feasible any longer. The Software will be taking another direction soon. I foresee a new Audience too.
Any question that touches on these topics have not been answered except by Roman. Until he gets back sit tight.
One thing that I believe is safe would be 7.6 release. After that I am not comfortable with what might happen next.
Things are slowly disappearing from their website with not even a whisper. If this is the future of their communication with it's users we are in a heap of big trouble.
These are my feelings only and I don't speak for Caligari. |

As supportive as I am of Roman and Caligari, there is a worrying lack of 'voice' from within Caligari. I would hope that the legalities were settled by now and that someone would be able to say something...even it were only "I can't say anything just now!" The complete silence is not reassuring at all.
Just my humble opinion, but I think a few official words would go a long way to end the speculation and ease the discontent around here....:o |

Far from it I am still meeting lots of new people every day, Microsoft is a large organization. Upside of this is that I see amazing new resources available to us. The time has not come yet to make new announcements, just sit tight for a bit longer, we are making good progress! |

Oops! I didn't mean to start another 'why aren't they telling us anything' thread, although I'm as curious as the next person. :D
But what about my first question? Why is there no search facility?
Steinie your speculation about trueSpace is running along similar lines to my own - it sounds likely that Pro-Teams future ia currently undefined.
Norppa - Hello and welcome, nice to hear from you.
Splinters - Given my rampant addiction to curiousity I'm trying to limit myself to 3 questions a day! That's fair enough isn't it? How many questions do other people limit themselves too? And why is 42 the answer to life, the universe and everything? And how many questions is that I've asked today?
And why don't more people belong to Curiosity Anonymous? :D |

Didnt Thomas answer part of the question...
He was faster in this thread then I was.
Doesnt look like Caligari is away !;)
Maybe Caligaris direction is a different one in the future ... who knows ? !
Does this have to be bad news.... I dont think so.
3D is moving in a different direction then it was a few years ago!
Modelers have changed so have render engines etc.
If a product sells well why all the panic....
If it doesnt ... well thats trouble for a company.
Its up to us users what we want and if we get it in the future:)
Peter
Ps.: Just noticed that Roman posted.....
No news can be good news too if there isnt any ! |

This made a great deal already. Waiting from this moment onwards will be much more enjoyable.;)

And with just those few words, Roman, I felt the whole tone become more positive around here....:D
Thanks. |

The only thing that bothers me about the Microsoft take over is that it is rapidly becoming like Adobe in pricing.
Everything starts at $699 dollars U.S.
I had to do something the other day involving a FLA file. Guess what? I don't own Flash 9, which FLA is the propriety format. Price? You guessed it. :)
I could cheat and get one of my children that is going to University to buy me a package at one/third of that price I suppose.
Might as well...
Just saying... |

Yes, thank you Roman for saying hello. 'Some' news is always better than 'no' news. Good luck with the negotiations.
Best wishes Grommit |

Cautious optimism until I hear with my own ears "tS will continue to be for 3D Artist" and not "we are a Map Company" now... |

not "we are a Map Company" now...
Keep a close eye on the front page, make sure they don't start altering the logo bit by bit each day to morph Caligari into Cartography :) |
