This is a WIP some of you may recognize the chair from the Model challenge, still a few things to work out yet, because of the lighting the glasses doesn't show up very well, and I need to work on the background environment still.
Comments or suggestions welcome. |

Hey daybe,
Looking good with this composition.
Only crit I have is that the glass is too clear. Needs a dirt/oil/fingerprint layer and/or more reflection around the edges.
That's the metal tile from the illustration course isn't it? ;)

Thanks guys, Yes that's the same metal tile texture from the illustration. I decided to actually model the floor, this time, I think it works better then just applying a texture to a plain.
Madmouse it's a little clean for my tastes too, I will dirty this up a little later on, still using standard shaders at the moment, Once I have everything in place and the lighting worked out I will focus my attention on textures. The glass texture isn't working yet, thanks for the suggestion Jack I used very little reflection with this one I will try that and see if that helps.
Thanks, |

Hey Dave.
My crit is the proportion between chair and table.
scale the table higher. |

I agree the table needs to higher, enough to get your knees under it. Also, your glass needs something behind the camera to reflect. Just add a bright white object or plane in an appropriate position. |

Ya thanks guys, I had thought about that but was thinking they may end up being to high, but I will give it a shot.
Here is an update, working on the background, looks like the tiler was in again this morning. |

I like your background. It's a very clean fusion of retro styling (stool shape, red and white w/ chrome) with the simplicty of modern (tone on tone, clean lines).
Ok, I admit it. I used to watch too much HGTV.... ;)
Also the stool height looked ok to me. I would just assume that the table were meant to be to the side of the stools instead of infront of them.

Thanks jack, I too spend too much time watching HGTV. After much thought I have decided to leave the tables as they are as they are meant to be side tables anyway but thanks.
I have almost finished modeling all the elements for this scene, just a few more supporting pieces and then on to messing this up a bit and fine tuning, the glass came out a little better but still a bit of tweaking to do. |

the chairs looks stylish :)
maybe just increasing the reflection strenght a bit. Espacially the reflection in the glass is too less due to the fact that the light on the ground is bright. |

Cheers guys, here is another render before I start playing around with textures, this one I used an HDRI file for the lighting with lightworks. |

Very cool Daybe, could compete with a GI render anyday. Not sure about the coasters though, they look a bit like spilled wine...

Thanks Jack,
Ok So I started to dirty this up a bit started with the floor and I am working my way up the walls.
This is a departure from my usual style of crisp clean textures and renders, having fun messing things up a bit.
Here is an update. Comments always welcome. |

The HDRI render is very very nice. I got a total sense of time and place from it, afternoon drinks on a day off in a bar you never usually would go to. Don't overanalyze this one ! |

Thanks Chester and Steinie. It's hard not to influenced when watching Madmouse work his magic.
Chester, I agree with you, just one of those let's see what this looks like things. I am very pleased with the result as well. |

OK, so I am still working on the texturing, but I am getting closer to what I had in mind. I think this project may actually turn out being 2 or 3 images.

Funny guys, I have uploaded the final image of the bar scene to the image gallery, But be sure to check back here as I will continue on with the messy scene. Perhaps a nice Crime scene(if therw is such a thing).

I think the change to black coasters on the final image solved the "spilled wine" problem, stayed in the theme, and I think matured the color composition nicely, definitely a good color choice. :)
Fingers crossed for you if your entering it in the gallery. ;)

Here is a small update, took a while to decide how to create the restraints, still needs some tweaking but I like the way they worked out, may need to scaled down a bit. I think I need to break out a hammer and break a few tiles.
Cheers, |
