I like where it's going. I hope you continue to add that dirt look, maybe puddles from broken ducts, broken tiles, some stained tools (may it be from an insane dentist or torturer or whatever >:) ). Or maybe I'm very wrong and it's going to be something completly different  |

Remind me not to let my kids trick or treat at your house... ;)
Looks great! Maybe you could have one of those head restraints that they use in brain surgery, where they insert rods in to your head...

I've seen this device before and it was when I got married........;)
You have now captured my attention, keep it going, it's looking great. You won't get any rust if that's stainless. The chair looks like it might get foul things applied.... hair, blood, wedding vows...... |

Thanks Guys all good ideas, The chair looks like it might get foul things applied.... hair, blood, wedding vows...... Poor you. :p
Thanks, I am just using a standard metal shader at the moment, but I will work on it.
GraySho your right, I spent a lot of time at the dentist this year and I thought I am actually paying for someone cause me severe pain, what wrong here.
iBrent, good idea, just have to try and find some reference now. |

OK, took a little break from the chair and did a bit more fine tuning with some of the textures and added a few objects which still need to be textured properly. Tried to work in some cracked and broken tiles but I wasn't happy with the results as they weren't showing up very well, I will try a little later.

That's looking great, if alarming...!
Some vaguely hospital looking equipment there, but I sure woudn't want to be treated there.
Seems like folks have really been inspired by the chair challenge! Looking forward to seeing how this one pans out. |

Thanks Nez, Still pluging away. Added cracks to the floor tiles and some other texture refinements, as well as some other details including a nice hole in the wall, remodeled the cabinet and the display, they were older models I had kickeng around and they weren't modeled very well. I have applied a simple texture to the chair and need to work on this one quite a bit still and a few more objects to make.

Thanks guys, I am pleased, you know seeing the images posted this month I didn't think the image would plcae in the top 2, Kate's car is awesome so 2nd to that image is fine by me. I try and spread the word as much as I can, not many comments but that's the way it goes sometimes.
Chester, I had thought the cord was a bit kinked in spots, but thought it was just me. Cuba eh? Hmm. I'll never tell. |

Well done Dave - you spend all that time hanging around in a bar and still manage to pull off second place - that takes talent!! If your latest pictures here are representative of where you work no wonder you spend so much time in the bar!
Congratulations! |

Thanks guys, I try not to spend too much in bars but sometimes it can't be helped they just seem to pull me in, and the next thing I know it's morning. :o
Ok so here is another update, I have almost finished with the modeling, still need to work on some of the textures and some minor things.
I wanted to add some dirt of small clumps of dirt here and there like in the corners and also spread around the floor here and there but not exactly sure how to go about it, I could model them or try and use textures for this but I haven't had much sucess using textures always looks fake to me, any suggestions?

The chair looks great, but there's something that looks wrong with the cracked tiles. Tiles, being ceramic and brittle, tend to crack into shards across the width or length, or radiate from a point of impact. Thus you get curved or straight cracks, rather than riverine, zig-zag ones. A minor point, but that's what jumped out at me. |

Can't wait to see what "tools" the "doctor" uses...
Is there a story behind the chair yet? Aside from a marriage gone bad. ;)

Alrighty, I think I have added enough objects to the scene, I was going to add a few tools but the image is working out and I don't see the need at the moment.
spacekdet thanks for the suggestion regarding the tiles.
Here are 2 pics, 2 different lighting solutions, not sure which one I like the most, The green varitation is interesting to me as it is cold and maybe suits the subject a little better. Any thoughts. |

Hmm I hope my medical insurance gets me something more upmarket than this. Genuinely scary!
I like the right hand image the best, with the colder light, rather than the yellow light. To me, the left image looks more like sunlight in the evening coming through a broken down window maybe, behind the viewer. That gives it a disused and in ruins type look.
The right hand image looks like by a neon or flourescent tube, or maybe a flashlight carried by the viewer or someone with them. It makes it seem more stark, more clinical, more technological - any hint of nature is removed (not saying the yellow light was intended as sunlight in the left hand image, but it's what it makes me think of). It also makes it feel like it is more "still in use" since the light appears to be from a piece of technology inside the room, rather than leaking into the room from outside.
HTH!

Thanks Tom and splinters,
Ya doom 3, may favorite game too bad I lent it out to my no account brother and haven't seen it for almost 2 years. I too like the 2nd image and have decided to go with that one, I like the cold feeling the the green lights give off. The yellow light gave the image a soft warm look to it and that isn't what I was really trying to achieve. Tom you might want to check and see what health benefits Caligari offers if it says Bob's discount HMO you might want to rethink it.;) |

OK I have uploaded the final image to the Image gallery thread here (http://forums1.caligari.com/trueSpace/showthread.php?p=18608#post18608) if you want to see how this turned out.
Thanks to all those who commented, very helpful.;) |
