Hi all,

I am currently starting on building the sword of the king, Narsil, from Lord of the Rings. I think I've got the basic shape of the sword down, although I'm not perfectly happy with the pommel of the sword. Keep in mind I've just thrown on simple textures, I will add designs later:) . Just wondering what you guys think

I think that's looking great, I think maybe if you wanted you could add more polygons for the hilt if your looking for detail, what I tend to do with swords is model all the parts seperately until they're looking good, and then I use the boolean union command. An example of this would be where I made a knife blade using NURBS curves and a couple of primitives, it's a simple technique and even if your animating it, it should get the job done nicely :)

I'm a huge Tolkien fan (heck I live in Middle Earth (New Zealand) so I recognised the name Narsil straight away. You're off to a good start here - the tip looks a little odd to me but a lot will depend on whatyour ultimate aim is - after all, if the sword is buried in some orc or troll the tip won't matter!
