This is a Vector Program I use called Xara Xtreme. They recently released Version 4 which includes most all of the features that was in their 2.5D program called Xara3D.
I made the graphic for the Polyloop forum, but it will demonstrate the extrusion ability with out changing it. :D
The extrusion object has 3 different lights, all which the color can be changed; the face and sides colors can be changed as well. Biggest advantage is that the extrude object can be rotated (shown in image by several views of the same object)
Anyway, FYI - a new innovation in one of my favorite Vector programs. |

I see it as somewhat comic that you post about Xara on a MS owned company website, now when Xara is going open source (GPL) with it's software...
http://www.xaraxtreme.org/
I am converting over to Linux so I don't have to pay for Xara if I want to use it. My problem is of course that Truespace don't work in Linux and with MS owning it, I don't expect that to change before the sun burns out. |

Xara went to Linux conversion quite some time ago.
Besides, if your hard drive is big enough, you can dual boot with Windows and Linux, then still use both programs. |

Ok, I didn't know that Xaras GPL move was old but I still find it a bit comic that we have this discussion here now when MS owns Caligari.
Of course I know that I can double boot, I do that now. But, it is only a temporary solution. On the 30:th june MS will stop selling new licenses for XP and there I and MS move along different paths. I don't want the DRM ridden Vista, where I don't even can install which drivers I want (you have to have signed drivers in 64 bit Vista) so the MS is forcing me to move over to Linux.
My hope is that Wine will improve enough so that I can continue to use my current versions of Truespace even in the future when I have a new computer and my current OEM XP license isn't valid. |

Even more 'comic' discussing LINUX on a MS owned forum. :D |

I think many people are considering a move to linux for the reasons spyfrog stated. If Linux ran dx apps properly it would be my first choice too.
However, the commercial versions of Xara are windows only, so I'm not sure how this makes Caligari look bad. |

LINUX users tend to be VERY err..evangelical. They never miss a chance to chat up potential converts. I swear some would talk LINUX at a funeral!
