1 meg

Just goofing around as i take a break from writing...

- Truespace 6.6

- Terragen 1.whatever

- Infinity 2 -TS plug in

- Half ass 'work in progress' spaceship model

- Hacked together 'panorama' using terragen renders

- Super Cheesy ufo sound effects

- Oh and lens flare! (done is post via video edttor)

Conceptually pretty darn cool..!

After 'thinking' it all out took about an 2 hours to get what i needed from terragen and into Infinity 2.

Always wanted to do a scene like this...shadow catcher is just a simple plain..but almost works

'whateverrrrrrrrrrr !

;)

Not bad :) . Did you use the U|V I/O plugin to match the camera in tS and terragen? I never tried animations in terragen and how accuratly it exports with the plugin.

I see the terragen landscape is pretty basic. I'd love to share one of my terragen scenes for an animation with trueSpace objects. Check my terragen Gallery at Renderosity (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/browse.php?user_id=296787) or my website (incomplete, see sig).

The landscape was just the default settings from terragen..

As for the plug-in..no

I just set up the terragen scene and rotated the camera in terrgen in increments of 45degrees along the 'x' axis..in the terragen camera panel....making sure everything else remained unchanged.

Then took the renders and matched them up in photoship to create a wide 'panorama' type image. You can see the seams in this one, as i just hacked it all together.

Then I took that panorama image into Infinity 2 background plugin for TS 6.6...

setting the image up on a 'sphere' in Infinity 2..

and the rest is just a TS camera set to 'look at' the ship as the camera moves by it...within TS 6.6

HTMS...it's pretty straight forward other than getting it look 'right' in Infinity 2.

Don't ask me about Infinity 2...lol...i never really understand what it is doing but have played enough to guess my way through and test the rendered background image.

Yep, just Terragen with plugins. I used the SO plugins (free) for that strata look and texture overlays. I just did some color corrections in PSP.

Edit: I've tried the infinity2 plugin as well, and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who doesn't know exactly how to use it :D

lol..no kidding...most of the time i get what i want..i look at the settings and wonder.. 'how the hell'..

lol

Light setup was from something else..three ray cast lights hitting the shadow catcher... it's hacked together ...so no messing with lights and catcher settings

another terragen panorama used here...also added a foreground 'rock' in TS to add depth to it as the 'rock' passes between the camera and the spaceship

May be it's not earth and has a multiple-star system?!

I like how you've managed to bring the Terragen landscape into TS, will have to look into that...

Good work there humdinger! You managed to give terragen images into TrueSpace with little sweat lol. How about a step by step illustration? :p

I mean, this is something I'm trying to figure out! getting nice Terragen images

into a TS in a dome like way.

Greysho: Those Terragen images are pretty stunning! I have the demo version and

I can't figure out how to create my terragen images more "Customly" lol.

What kind plugins are there for Terragen?

Plugins for Terragen:

SO Pack (http://www2.cs.uh.edu/~somalley/sopack.html) Highly recommended!!!

LensFX (http://www.mudder.net/genghis/lensfx/)

Water works plugin (http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/%7Ejomeder/WaterWorks/index.html) Also very nice, water effects like surf etc.

For Export only (http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/%7Ejomeder/feo/index.html)more export formats

Then there's fimrament plugin to create terrains via bitmaps. Don't have the URL ready (google is your friend ;)

For creating very complex and nice terrains, I highly recommend World Machine (http://www.world-machine.com/), a node based terrain creator (see, I'm not new to nodes ;) ). There's a free version, which produces very nice terrains already.

Man, have you guys seen the gallery and stuff for Terragen 2? It's amazing looking! They say on the site that it's due for what looks like a beta test in 2006. I can't wait!

For all you Terrageniuses out there - Planetside have just announced that they intend to release the Terragen 2 Technology Preview on December the 15th for both Windows and Mac.

Check it out here (http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/tg2/tech_preview.shtml) - it looks pretty cool though those of us who have yet to get to grips with node editors may have a learning curve to climb!

Let's see if they can keep that release date this time. As far as I know, it should have been out around a year ago  Anyway, I think it's well worth the wait. I'd like to mention, terragen is basically a procedural based software, where Vue is more like a regular 3D package specialized on outdoor environment (regarding workflow).

I have noticed that Terragen (0.9) has problems with rendering 50m below water level though -). Maybe that's fixed. :p
