Hi all
After much exasperation at the lack of proper searching abilty in the 7.51 manual, I have finally taken the solution into my own hands, before I died of stress or old age, whichever overcame me first!
I gave up trying to print out the manual as after 4 HP printer cartridges, the manual was going to cost more than the program to self print.
So here I am at last with a fully searchable PDF manual. All pages renumbered, and all chapters in one document.
IS it perfect... No, there are still link issues to Video tuts, I suspect to do with environmental variables installed along with TS, but I m guessing there, Plus me not being HTML literate has rendered the PDF as currently standalone only IE not opened from within TS. Both issues I am sure could be resolved with some input from more knowledgable users?
Question 1 is... Copyright? Is this an infringement?
Question 2 is... If not a copyright issue, I assume this would be useful to others, can it be shared?
NB I have no wish to infringe on Caligari's work or legal rights, but this is the only way I could find to make the manual actually useable for normal everyday learning of the program. I guess the sheer hours it has taken to sort out my own useable manual should be some indication of the difficulty I have had with searching the manual in its current form... please take note Caligari!
12 seperate Chapters 3 Appendicies ++ and all have to be searched as seperate Documents.. Come on Caligari, is that REALLY very user friendly?
Best wishes

I think someone had done this for the current manual, which is 7.1 or whatever version.
Don't recall where in the forum it was though.

This would be not be necessary if a proper index was provided.
One of my pet hates is the demise of fully functional software manuals (not just Caliagari) and one of the key flaws is the failure to include a proper detailed index. Its all well and good to provide thousands of pages of information but if locating the page/pages required is difficult to the point of frustration then what is the point? |

You could also try this:

Note that you cant distribute anything that contains the actual manual itself, since that is only available as part of the full tS7.51 product (and not in the free version of tS7.51).
So while you can publish an index that links into the original manual (and so required the user has the original manual installed), you can't distribute anything that has the manual pages in built into it.
It does sound like that is what you have, something with all the manual content inside it. That would make it something that you could not distribute.
HTH!
