I am trying to use an AVI as a texture, but it tells me 'file not supported' when I am browsing through the texture browser. I have turned on ANIM, but nothing seems to work...any ideas?

Using 6.6

Should be able to, haven't tried it in awhile.

With the Material Editor open and object selected:

Right click on the color box
A box will pop up named color shaders
Select the "Calagari Symbol Texture Map" shader
(it will pop up in the Color box of the material editor)
Right click on the Color box of the material editor and choose your AVI file.
Click on the red arrow on the top of the Color box of the material edtior and click where it says "Anim"

Paint the Avi texture on object or faces selected

You will need to know the number of frames the movie has, i.e 150 frames.
When you animate it, just put in the max frames and hit the record (Use the scene editor to record and set number of frames)
run it back to make sure you got it recorded.
Then when you render it, choose a nice format like png or tga and render it as frames, just in case you crash. :)Might have forgotten a step, it's been a long while since I did that.

You can use an AVI file as a texture. The file not supported must be saying there's a problem with the avi files you're trying to use. Have you tried it with a different avi file?

It is an uncompressed AVI, but I will try something else. I also noticed that it is a rather large aVI, so I am going to re-render it smaller and see if that helps. I will also render it out as a few other codecs - thanks for the heads up.

Another question - I am using the Starfield generator from TS4 - is there an update for it?
