Alright, I tried to reduce the polygons on my model...over, and over again...without success. I tried it with the poly reduction tool, as well as by hand...both failures.


A conclusion has been made, as it had to be decided soon...due to the fact that my project has a deadline by April. And so, after much trial + error, I will begin a complete reconstruction of my model...but rather than starting with the feet, I will begin with the shoulders.


Does anyone disagree with my decision? If so, I would like to here your advice.


Find yourself a nice easy tutorial that gets you started with a basic character model, don't try to create a lifelike character your first time out. The animation part of your work will consume a large chunk of time to get it to look good, and it is far better to have a believable lifelike animation on a nice basic box model charcter than it is to have a great looking character and jumpy unrealistic animtion :D


Best of luck to you and your project, sounds like you are on the right track now.

PS:

These tutorials are free and are based on GameSpace (the younger brother to TrueSpace 6.6), so they will be using all of the same tools you have in your program right now. The model they are making is very basic, and will not deform too well, but they will get you up to speed very quickly with a basic no frills character. Worht a look at anyway :D

First off, sorry for my abrupt absence for the last week and a half.


Tsk. My access to the internet was gone for a while due to my sudden and immediate need to reformat my HDD.:(


Either way, I'm back online and, amidst the sudden rush of emails and malware protection updates, managed to finally pop my head back over here to say hello.:rolleyes:


:banana: Sooooooooooo, after that intro, I think it would be best to announce my current predicament. So far, I have no photos to show just yet, but I went through some trial and error trying to model a human body. It worked out pretty well with the torso, but that's about as far as I got. Once I created the arms and legs, I gave it a good look over and decided that it looked a little cartoony and that was'nt going to be helped by my total lack of knowledge about human anatomy.:confused:


I'll give it another go in a few day's time, but it might be best if I gathered up some facts from the experts (you guys).;)


Furthermore, I'm having trouble picking a good rendering resolution (in pixels).


I've already decided to use either the "2.35:1 Anamorphic Scope" format (aka, the format highly used in cinemas/widescreen DVD's), or the "1.85:1 Academy Flat" format (common widescreen).


I also need to render my animation in a super high resolution, with the width being at least 2048 px.


Just as an added fact, there is no possibility that I will use a 4:3 aspect ratio (fullscreen), as I'm just too loyal to this format. I will however, take your oppinions on wether or not I should letterbox it. Y/N?


Please, any help you can offer with any of these things would be greatly appreciated.
