Sorry, I didn't post any details of issue 105 but it was pretty boring unless you want a masterclass in anatomy and figure modelling.
Now, issue 106 is much better.
A feature on Bunny; the new blender movie with a tutorial on blender's new fur feature using actual assets(models/textures) from the movie. A copy of Blender 2.46.
3D02 stock models, turbo squid models, Daz figures, textures etc. usual stuff.
Antics 3.1 base pack; complete and fre pre-viz machinima animation tool.
A complete guide to open source software for 2D, 3D, rendering, animation, post process etc.
How to build a commercial game using only open-source tools. How to sell a short movie. review of 3DsMax 2009 (Mmmm 7/10; seems geared towards product and architectural design. Nothing for games!!)
A pretty reasonable read but best of all.....an advert for next month which will include a FREE full version of Hexagon 1.0. Nice freebie and no doubt a nice upgrade price to 2.5.
That's all folks!! |

Thanks for the update splinters! Sounds like 106 is a copy to pickup when it gets here in the U.S.

For some reason that time is the same as we have to wait to see it in Sweden. Apparently it takes as long to cross the Atlantic as the North Sea for a magazine... |

True, but looks like Issue 107 is also worth a punt for a free copy of Hexagon. That means they have given away two of Daz3D's flagship programs this year. If you got Carrara too then you have a nice dedicated modeller and an allround package that work well together....and all for nowt!
For those thinking that Hex 1.0 is too old to be of interest, I have 2.5 and there are very few features I use that were not in the first version. If I didn't already have it, I would buy it for £6 and a free magazine...:D |

There's at least one hexagon user that prefers 1.0 to the 2 series. It has most of the subd tools, but it is missing the uvmapping (I think) and 3dpaint. For the price of a magazine, it's a bargain. I might pick it up as I've only ever used 2. |

We must have a clogged drain because we just got Issue 104 in the Stores. I'm not sure why everything is slowing down. Slow boat to China? |

The current issue is always a month late in the States. |

3ds now has two flavors. This is the the architectural version that has no maxscript but some new features aimed directly at rendering. The other version is aimed at games companies.
Many people are upset by this, which perhaps accounts for the low score. |
