Hey guys,

I should have thought of this ages ago, I've decided to start making work-in-progress builds of dribble to customers as well as the latest stable release. So when you hit the download link, you can download one or both builds.

Word in progress means:

- Features could be removed while they're being worked on

- Documentation for new features is typically non-existent

- New features may not be complete

- There's no tS5 build (is anyone actually using dribble with tS5?)

- Bugs are likely

Anyway, if you want to give it a spin, here's what's in the current build:

1.04wip061408

- Fixed missing tSambientlight shader

- Added support for material lights (best used when GI is enabled)

- Added fur shader (found as a Lightworks reflectance shader). Apply it to any object you wish to generate fur (the object will not render, only the fur will render)

- Area light now respects visibility setting

- More stuff that I have completely forgotten by now

Existing customers should be able to use the download link they already have (email me if your downloads have run out), and if you're not yet a customer, now's a perfect chance to buy :)

PS - I'm really tired. Really tired. I might have screwed this up royally, let me know ;)

PPS - This was supposed to be released in honor of me receiving Metal Gear Solid 4, but it still hasn't arrived. So let's call it a Father's Day celebration instead :)

Sorry Simon, I cannot see anything to download at the end of that link. I am using the original one you sent me. The web page says Dribble files for download but there are no active links, icons or anything else...:o

Yeah, this was really just a gigantic tease to make you mad, sorry.

I see the blank page now. I'll find the problem and fix it, in the meantime I'll have it send you out a new email. Same goes for anyone else experiencing problems, just let me know.

Cheers Simon, I got it now but I cannot seem to find the fur shader. I installed it properly (I think) but al I see is the Dribble SSS shader.

I told you I was tired, didn't I?

The new installer should now be on the download page.

It looks like I need to migrate existing customers to the new "product", so that's what I'm doing. Everyone should have received an email by now.

Simon, you are my hero :D

The fur is brilliant, looks as good as some sasquatch stuff i've seen for lightwave!

I know you're seriously sleep deprived already but is dribble going to make it over to the workspace? it'd be so cool to have this mixed with the new animation features in 7.6

If anyone has any ideas on how to calculate the polygon slope for the Smart Combing (http://www.worley.com/E/Products/sasquatch/combing.html#top) stuff that Sasquatch does, let me know :)

As far as Workspace goes, it's certainly on the cards.

Simon, looks like a (random) weighted average between the surface normal and the direction (bias control). Would that do it? :)

Aha...a Yorkshireman, I thought there was a reason I liked him...:D

Lets hope his game blog is no indication of Dribble progress:

"He hopes to overcome his inability to actually finish development of any his game projects and start officially calling himself a game developer."

I get the feeling that Simon is struggling to find time to develop Dribble as he would like, hence the WIP's so it is understandable that he may not be able to devote any time to supporting an earlier version than 6. As tS7.5 and 6 share the same (model side) engine and UI, I guess it is easy to support those two versions.

It is not unusual to find no-one developing for an older piece of software anymore. Need to move on.

Ah splinters, I do do tS5 builds of dribble, and I'll continue to do so. It just takes a little extra testing, so for the last WIP I didn't bother, but now that someone has spoken up the next release will have a tS5 build included again.

Thank you for the correspondence. I am very glad.

I am Japanese. My English is very poor.

It apologizes, if there is impoliteness.

FYI, the reason it's taking so long to get this new WIP out is that I have to work on another project at the moment. One that actually pays :P

Should be wrapped up shortly though, then I'll post the new WIP.
