In case you are a turtle and unaware. Great browser if you haven't heard of it before.

yep it's my main browser. F3 seams to be much faster as F2. The Caligari site opens now without problems. With F2 I had everytime problems and only the Internet Explorer was fast enough.
Unfortunatly my theme of choice don't work with F3 :( |

Downloaded it to increase the tally towards the record but sticking with FF2 until my favorite theme and essential add-ons get caught up.
Oddly enough, it's sort of what I did with tS7. |

Downloaded as well. Thanks!
Was using one of the first releases of Firefox for a while, then switched to the more lightweight Opera. So now I'm giving Firefox another try with this new version.
PicLens is a pretty neat addon for quick image searching, btw. |

Downloaded too, it was nice to see a server that took advantage of my 12gbit connection for a change as well. Clicked on save and was done. :D |

Hi All, I have been using opera for years now. It has helped me avoid many of the viruses and adware that internet exporer is prone to. Thanks for the update about firefox. Might be better than opera!

I've been using mozilla variants ever since I first hooked up to the web - they've always been the best as far as I was concerned. However, the more accepted firefox becomes the more significant its relationship with google - I hope that doesn't create unwanted interference further down the track. Catch-22 though - there probably would no longer be a firefox if it wasn't for google. |

What's really funny is that trying to update through Firefox 2.0.0.14 gives the message 'no updates'...

I think this was to ensure that the downloads could be counted as part of the world record attempt. |

I got it, installed it, crashed it twice in a minute. stopped using it.
Funnily, opera 9.5 was also released at the same time. I use it for the forums as it has an auto-refresh option on pages. Also, as fast as firefox 3 appears to be, opera still wipes the floor with it. |

unfortunatly some sites looks terrible with opera (like mine) :( I tested also the new release there I used also opera some years back but firefox has still the best results nearly the same like IE.
If you don't use flash it's still impossible that a site looks the same in all browsers :( |

Actually, flash is the primary reason I will exit a site.
Firefox is a nightmare to work with. I usually work in explorer for site design but when firefox comes into it, 10 lines of code for ie, 50 for firefox. Fact of life I guess.
I always find a good check is to make it XHTML transitional and run it through the validator on the w3 site. catches almost all formatting issues. |

Am I the only one here using Safari? I have FF2 on my old pc and Safari on the new one - it's WAAY faster and more stable than Firefox - at least on my machine and ADSL connection.
I've actually been thinking about ditching Firefox and using Safari on both machines - I just haven't got around to it yet!
If I decide to go to FF3 I'll probably wait for a while and see what sort of reviews it gets. |

It's crashed a few times on me as well. I think maybe a patch isn't too far away. |

After numerous crashes and then a complete meltdown (it wouldn't download the latest update, although it would keep trying until I killed it in task manager - yikes!) I decided to try out Opera, after some serious pimpage by brother x.;)
I have to say it's excellent. Much faster than IE 7 or Firefox. Looks nice too, and has some nice features. It's actually surprising that it doesn't get more press, as I'm pretty much sold on it, and that's after being a mozilla zombie for years.
Thanks bx.:) |

I think it was something to do with the problems I've been having with the latest windows update. It killed zone alarm (no big deal), but other funny things have been happening as well.
A few people have had issues with F3, but not too many as bad as me from looking at the forums. |

Safari is actually OK, if a little slow. I hate the auto-updater as it keeps asking if you want to install itunes and quicktime and I really really don't want either.
If I want to play MOV files, VLC does the job.
Transient, ran up FF3 and it updated with no issues....only time I've seen it behave. :D |

I don't use Safari that much.
I do use Quicktime and Itunes quite a bit though.
The reason is that Quicktime is the preferred video format in Adobe products and it's assured that users across the varied platforms will have the codec.
For Itunes, since I have a collection of SFX files, it is easier to manage the sounds and music from Itunes than it is windows media. |

I avoid adobe tools like the plague. too expensive.
and, VLC is probably more cross-platform than quicktime and it handles mp2, mp4 and a whole range of other formats including WMV for other platforms - no codecs needed.
AND it's not a 33mb download. (9mb I think)
Just don't like iTunes and don't have an iPod or iPhone so no need. |

Nice to see someone else using Safari James - don't use i-tunes at all and QT only very occasionally but of the three browsers I'm familiar with, IE, FF and Safari I find Safari easily the quickest for loading pages and navigating between tabs etc. |

It is fast but seriously, opera is faster. I do only use it for the caligari site though. It also has a decent torrent downloader for the occasion you need to download a torrent file. And the fact that it is only 7mb for the installer and that includes RSS and usenet readers and an email client, you can't argue really. |
