Dunno, I guess Flavio can answer that question. He appears to be a talented architect, perhaps he sells his work as well? I would think so, that's what architects do. |

Not sure what your point is Stenie. I live in yorkshire (UK) but hardly have any UK clients...most in US. As for that image, it is much more likely that he sold that image or was commisioned than nicked it off their site.
Your thread title seems to imply that some sort of cheating is going on... |

Or perhaps Steinie thought someone was ripping Flavio off by using his image from Caligari? |

Fair point james....I guess only one person knows for sure...:D
My apologies to Steinie if that is what he intended by the thread but it seems a little 'high profile' to be a stolen piece especially as they have a web design award. |

Yes the question here is does the contractor have the right to be using Flavio's image? I'll ask Flavio and see.
Thanks!

Flavio tells me he did not give permission for the use of the image. Since it was taken from the Caligari galleries, I have emailed the site in question, but have recommended that Flavio email them directly also since he is the copyright owner in this case so really it is his case to pursue.
Naturally, even when published in our galleries, the artist retains full rights to their work. Caligari has no rights to the image (except the right to use it in our own promotional material as agreed in the contest rules), and certainly its appearance in the gallery does not put it in the public domain.
Thanks for drawing attention to this - should anyone see something that looks like an artist's work is being misused, they should feel free to contact the artist directly and let them know, since they are the ones who own the rights and can take action.
In this instance I wanted to be sure the site knows that appearing in our Gallery doesn't make the artwork public domain.
Hopefully this will be cleared up soon :)
Thanks!

Sorry if I may have misread your intentions Steinie...that is the problem with threads that have an 'alarming' title then two weblinks and no explanation.
I can't believe these cheeky sods!! Slipping a crafty image in is bad enough but making your main banner from it and then accepting a web award is just beyone belief.
Good spot Steinie, I would never have expected to see my own work on a site other than a client's or my own but this has really opened my eyes...and saddened my heart a little....:o
Hope you get it sorted Adriani. |

No problem Splinters. I couldn't really come out and say someone took someones work since it could have been sold to the Company. I did want to draw attention to this problem with the Title since this is always series stuff.
I can't find the software just yet but remember the new search engine that compares artwork to all instances on the web? (Someone mentioned it to Splinters as I recall) It is in development right now but I think the power to search the Web for your own artwork would be fantastic.
It would certainly help Artist maintain some control of their own properties. |

Thanks Rayman. This looks to be the most important search engine for Artist EVER! I can't wait for it's release. |

Hi all,
Received confirmation that the image is removed from the site, so now all appears to be well with Flavio's work. Thanks to all who spotted this and pointed it out.

Good news, I was accepted to the Tin Eye Team for testing. Now I can verify any picture/rendering/graphic/photo to see if it is being used somewhere else on the web.
You either submit your url or graphic to there site to check or download a plugin for FireFox or IE. Right click on any graphic on the Web and check. Easy.
Splinters you should use this one too for your own peace of mind. |

TinEye Looks excellent Bob..
About the adriani's image all depends, i will prefer request to add a watermark with your name and mail on that image instead to be erased. That may bring new customers, who knows.... ;) |

Gald to see the unauthorized picture was removed. The picture that is there ( http://www.schallus.com/galleries/ ) now looks like 3D modeling/rendering and looks familiar. Has anyone seen it before? Maybe that site did it again. |
