I have been trying all evening to get onto the Caligari.com site but it is down..as if it is no longer there. In the last hour, putting the address in takes me to the Microsoft Live Search.......coincidence?
I only managed to get to the forum through a google search...:o
Any ideas what is going on? |

I get:
"The connection has timed out"
Forum works fine though. Could be that the main site is being integrated with Microsoft's or moved to Microsoft servers? |

Yep, she's down alright. Must be an update, they have always had good uptime. This happened before when they updated the forums around the time tS4 came out. |

Could be the janitor unplugged the server while mopping though too. |

Definitely something amiss Jack...it has been like this all evening. Either the servers for the main site are down...or....it is time to move to Microsoft.
The address for the forums does not begin with caligari.com. I cannot use the links on the top of the forum pages either!
Probably nothing really but since the acquisition I wondered when Caligari would be ported over to the Microsoft site. Maybe this is it...in which case there might be news of tS7.6??
Mmmmm....interesting. |

I can click on the main website and it comes up with...
Microsoft Software Vacuum - Lite, introducing real time Suite starting at 695.
Includes:
- World Navigator Software
- Icon based Real time 3D solution
- Integration with LIVE software
Okay, so I just made that up, but wanted to contribute to the thread - bored. :D |

I would guess not, if anything merger/acquisition will lead to further delays. Not to mention the janitors raise. I think he/she needs one with such a thankless job. |

Probably just a server thing and like others have mentioned, people are on vacation. I suspect they wouldn't shut the main page down until they had the new one ready if they were changing over to MS or something. If they did shut it down, they would likely have a redirect to the new server for a time too. |

Duh! I'm a little thick at times. Your explanation makes much more sense than the janitor theory. |

Lol Froo. :D
BTW, if you look carefuly the forum title bar, the colavoration button is missed.. seems both pages (homepage, forum) are in separated servers..
It looks like the server where the pages are located are down for some reason...
Let's wait for a official answer ;) |

hehe I er... set a hedge on fire accidentally once with fireworks. Aw man how embarrassing!
I singed my legs and lost my keys stomping out the fire. The volunteer fire department showed up;
a guy said he could help me find my keys with a 'metal detector'; now mind you, this was redneck
country so a 'metal detector' could mean many things.... I thought it would be a disk on the end of a
stick with fancy readouts and stuff....
Nope; it was a horshoe magnet on a piece of string...
Metal Detector.... Rrrriiiiight.....
That was a looong time ago! In fact I dare say it was a past life...
Hummm... I seem to have lost interest in fireworks of late... |

main site still down... I'm so used to getting to the forums from the main site, that I only just now thought of looking in my history file and picking the forums.
Normally, there is a call-out feature when something goes down that will page someone.... guess they either don't have that, or someone forgot to charge their pager. |

I would assume that caligari already knows about the issue and is steadily working to get something running. What that will be, however, remains a mystery.
Caligari may have finally become Microsoft.
Who knows? Maybe by tomorrow, the forum will be dead too. I hope not!
But if that is indeed the case, it would be a smart move to find your work hosted on caligari and take it down before it gets lost. |

No need to panic or remove your work. The two sites are on different servers and the changing of the main site would not affect the content here at all. So, it is possible that it is finally migrating to Microsoft and that is something that would not need to be announced.
As for the forum, it can exist as a separate entity, at least for the short term, without any conflict. I would not remove anything just now unless you really want to. I am sure there would have been an announcement about it if there were any issues.
I am only speculating about all this of course...;) |

Hmm, don't know what to think.
If the site is down deliberately then I'd expect to see a temporary page saying it will return soon, or redirecting to a new location, etc. It would probably get a brief Captain's Blog entry or a Caligari employee posting to let us know. If it is being renovated then maybe it will have cool new features or maybe to release TS 7.6.
If the site is unintentionally down then everyone who knows what is happening is too busy fixing it to inform us about. However, it has been down a long time and I'd still expect a technical difficulties page would have been put up. If a machine crashed then I'm surprised that there isn't a mirror site kept up to date on another server/set of servers to point the domain name to in case of disaster. |

Maybe the fires out in that neck of the woods interrupted service?
Their provider and data center is down in Santa Barbara I think.
Maybe some line got cut or something. |

Hi all,
A hardware failure brought the website down. Nice timing, in the middle of the 4th of July holiday, and yes most of us were recharging batteries with some time off so this was not caught as early as it would normally be.
Some late Sunday night work got it back and running though, sorry for the inconvenience.
HTH!
