I made this over the course of the last week. Just finished it and wanted some feedback. Like it?

I listened (even though this is still not the best forum for a range of feedback).

The mix was good but I like a catchy 'hook' in this sort of music; something I will be humming all day and something that makes it stand out from the hundreds of trance/chill out/soundtrack stuff out there.

For me, it had no memorable elements. Maybe it will be catchier after a few listens but I doubt I would listen to it again.

Sorry if you wanted a different response but music is often more subjective than art...:o

Depends really if this is just a soundtrack for a show reel or similar..in which case it doesn't have to be too catchy and would work better.

If it helps, I used to be a professional touring musician, played piano in wine bars, organ in church, acted as MD a few times and did a fair but of session work in studios as well as writing and recording my own music (RnB, soul, rock and dance). Had quite a few positive reviews in mags like E and MM (look that up!) Music Technology, Sound on Sound etc. I am no expert but I have an idea what I am talking about. Alas, all my studio is gone now except for a mixing desk and an Alesis Fusion 8HD Digital Workstation.

Really nice. Great music to chill out to. Would be really good music for a demo reel too.

The one thing that struck me is that notes for each of the various instruments seemed to always be hit at max velocity. Especially for trance music varying how hard the notes are hit is a very useful mechanism to add expression and interest even if the the same note sequences are used.

You could try adding expressiveness to the sequences by playing the notes in manually on a midi controller then use your software package to tighten up or align the beats.
