Hi Tom,
Thanks for the info.
Come along to the TNL! (Thursday Night Live!) tomorrow, the 31st, at 5pm PST to meet up with others, where you can chat, ask questions, model etc.I will try,.. but due to the time difference (I am in the UK) it would probably be the early hours of the morning here, but I am interested and will try to attend.

We do have some UK night owls who come along (or "early morning owls" by that time!). That's the snag with being international, no time fits everyone :( If anyone out there would like to attend but can't due to time zones, let us know, it would be good for us to keep track of that info.
Thanks!

grymmjack: We are having a scriptors meeting starting in about 5min. They usually go on for at least a couple of hours. Here is a link that explains how to connect to the shared space. Hope to see you there. :)

Hi grymmjack.
Yes, we do meet in the shared spaces.
As Dele pointed out in the thread link, we have the Scriptor meeting in the Scriptorium every Tuesday night, 9 PM Eastern / 6 PM Pacific (Caligari Clock time). I am not sure if the Caligari clock is still setup; I think it needs to be fixed along with other website configurations.
Tomorrow night (Thursday) there is the TNL! (Thursday Night Live!) event, where everyone just comes to the Meeting Room to chill and have fun. Here's the link. Instructions for connecting are also at this link.
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=5988
Another way to connect is to click the icon that looks like two eyeballs looking at each other; located in the lower right hand corner of the interface.
When it opens:
1. Enter your login information. This is usually your forum login info (username and password)
2. Then in the textbox at the top of the dialog, you type in the portal you want to connect to, for example (the Meeting Room, on the TrueSpace server),
//tsportal.caligari.com/1111
3. Then Press the GO button to the right of this textbox.
Hope to see you there!
The spaces are open 24/7/365, so you can test the connection anytime.

No, it got you on the list of people interested in when the SDK is released. It's not out yet, so mailing me doesnt get you the SDK right now as its not ready, but it gets you on the list of people who will be notified directly by email as soon as its out (and perhaps other news items too).
Thanks!
Tom
Ahh... I sort of thought I would have had a reply about it.
I will wait patiently since you acknowledged I am on the list, sorry for misunderstanding.

well, if I want to make TNL I have to get up at 3am about since I'm down here in South Africa GMT+2, so yeah, it is a bit of a snag but I will still do it if i can, will wind up my trusty old alarm clock ;) |

Wow! This thread is still going! It reminds me of the "Seinfeld" show which was "a show about nothing". This thread is about the price of tS which is also nothing!!
Anyway, seems like Microsoft are aiming to take over from Santa Claus what with all the goodies they have been giving away along with trueSpace. Check out this story (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/372525_msftresearch29.html)
There are some interesting statistics in this article - I found this one particularly interesting:
"In the next five years, it's quite clear that from all the sources – satellites, sensors, high-throughput instruments – we'll generate more scientific data than we have in the whole of human history,".
That's pretty mind blowing! I also suggest it's just one of many reasons why a 3d immersive internet is inevitable. We are going to need entirely new ways of analysing and absorbing all the data that is available and 3d dimensions can carry far more info than 2 dimensions.
It also indicates what I suspect is a paradigm change in the way MS runs it's business. What was once a company that handled data to make money now focuses far more on the data handling knowing that money - which is just another type of data - will follow. |

Earlier in this thread and completely missing the boat...about something amazing happening
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?p=71905#post71905
I had comments about future 3D World issues. So, since they are now putting something on their website I should be in the clear to say that due to correspondence I have had with the Editor, anticipate good things re. trueSpace in both 108 and 109 :D |
