Hi!

I'm new in TrueSpace.

I saved a file as a .x file, but it doesn't load in the Directx viewer- it says it can't load it. Can somebody please help me?

Thanks!

Did you save the X from Modeler or from Workspace? Those are two different X versions.

And which X viewer do you use? It could even happen that the viewer fails at both versions. There are lots of X derivates around.

The .X viewer that comes with the DX SDK can't seem to read any .x files. It just prints and error message and closes.

I tried both of them (Modeler and Workspace) - and it didn't even open in an XNA program when I loaded a model.

Can you please help me?

Thanks!

Strange. Mmh, is the texture in the same folder than the X file? If yes, maybe trying another texture format?

Best would be to have a look at the scene. But i don't have XNA ...

DX needs a textures to display. So no wonder that you don't see anything.

Drop a DX shader with a texture onto your mesh, then try again with exporting ;)

Also if you come across an X file generated by TS that won't load into XNA or the X viewer, upload it and we'll pass it on to the developers so they can find out if it's an exporter problem and fix the problem.

Likely X format export has a high priority right now, so now is definitely the time to get any fixes for X export implemented.

Hi.

I'm still very new in TrueSpace. How do you do that- how do you drop a DX shader with a texture onto my mesh and export it?

Please help.

Thanks!

Go to Library tab, have a look at the Materials - DX9 tab, search for the Texture shader. Then grab it and drop it onto your mesh (left click at the shader, hold the mousebutton down, move the mouse over the mesh and release it). Next step is to inspect the material, load a texture into it and repaint the cube. Then export it.

I feel it. Your next question is: what is inspect. :D

I would highly suggest to have a look at the tutorials and videos. Saves you lots of questions ;)
